Musically the Altec VS4121 would be a better speaker system. But if you want a system which plays loud with good bass then get the 3251. Also it makes sense to get the 3251 if your going to play content with 5.1 sound.

3251's sound starts tearing at high volumes and there is no beat separation, clarity whatsoever..

Ive heard the AL 3251 before purchasing my 4121.. The Sound quality was very bad Imo.. TE members guided me not to buy a cheap 5.1 system (which costs below 4k) and they were right.

Incase u watch HD movies most of the time (encoded in 5.1 audio): logitech X-530 or X-540 - 5.2k

Incase u have a around 50-50 music and movie priority: Altec Lansing VS4121 - 2.9k

ADI AD1986A SoundMAX 6-channel CODEC

Jack Sensing and Enumeration

S/PDIF out interface

Is this sufficient for logitech X-530 or X-540?
