Monitors VA vs IPS panels

I am still not sure if I should get VA or IPS but I also don't want to compromise as monitor is not something I will change for several years and will want something good but not really splurge unnecessarily.

I prefer IPS panels for their color accuracy, minimum motion blur and HDR content. VA is a great middle ground, whereby it is closer to IPS in most things people need, especially better and darker blacks and contrast ratio. I am not a gamer hence my opinion is going to vary from most people here. I use my desktop for mostly content consumption, some office work and I prefer 4k monitors, where color gamut & accuracy is more important to me.

No No, I am ok to buy from anywhere where the price is good. I am just asking if the model you suggested and the one I linked are I feel only slightly different in terms of what ports they are offering. I don't see any other difference. Do you?

I ended up paying Rs 600 or so more just to get it from Amazon because some of these other direct sellers have difficult return policy and incase something happens like dead pixel etc...you have a lengthy process .
It is very low chance but again it can get difficult unless you are in same city.

If possible check offline stores for same model you want and you may get cheaper .

Just my 2 cents .

Had ordered this monitor for a friend back in Jan 2022 and he says it works like a charm . Has multiple connectivity 75Hz AOC 1080p 24" for around 11k with some bank offer.
I dont recommend this but can be a choice to some peeps looking for a budget option , I feel gigabyte also has some cheaper variants too g24** forgot the whole thing just google.

Also for my view on IPS vs VA panel I feel IPS would be a better buy only becoz of medium contrast and viewing angles ; kinda in between for best of both world like feel . VA is found in cheaper variants as they tend to provide a superior contrast ratio but a narrow viewing angle and latency ,response time hits.

Nevertheless if you find amazing deal on a VA panel monitor say 27 " for similar 15K ish budget i would seriously consider that .

Nevertheless ,Please take my advice with a pinch of salt as I ain't a specialist on the same.

While I can check offline, to be honest, I feel it is not worth the effort for me at least. There are hardly any computer stores where I stay and if I want to check more options, I have to go Lamington Road which is like a day's job.

Some of these offline stores delivery within the city.
You can call them and ask for the price and do the deal if it saves you the money and time.

For once brick & mortar stores are good
But if Amazon is giving any discount or you have an Amazon Business account then you will certainly get a discount otherwise depending upon the feedback and my personal experience vedantcomputers is very good. Okay.

TN means faster response times but not visible from all angles all colors
IPS means great colors but slower response times
VA means best of both worlds ( somewhat faster response times along with great colours)

Because before I bought my 27inch BenQ VA panel I researched many reviews and bought it.

I use a VA panel personally only because of contrast for the same colour gamut. However, what you have mentioned is not entirely correct.

The sole reason for using TN panels would be for refresh rate and thus e-sports since 500 Hz panels are available now. However, the colour reproduction and viewing angles are rubbish, so definitely not worth getting it for general use.

IPS panels are known mostly for great viewing angles. Some IPS panels have a larger colour gamut but for the same colour gamut, there is no advantage over a VA panel. It is great for colour work mainly because it does not suffer from colour shift and the fact that you can get wider colour gamuts if you spend more. However, IPS panel glow is really irritating along with the low contrast. So, it is best for mainly productivity tasks based on colour and is thus used widely professionally.

VA panel does not outright offer the best of both worlds. It offers excellent contrast ratio that is 3-5 times that of IPS panels and that makes it a great option for general use (gaming/movies). However, the viewing angles are not that great and there is quite a colour shift when viewing off centre, which doesn't make it ideal for colour work. Also, the refresh rate is the lower than comparable TN and IPS panel, so it is not outright the best option for gaming, but a practical one if you are not crazy about response times.

Also, honorary mention for OLED though it is not a practical option in terms of price and burn-in (especially with taskbars). Otherwise, it offers the best performance.

VA panels in monitors especially in the budget range isn't good for gaming, so for general use and gaming IPS is better. There are good gaming VA monitors but they're expensive.
Also TN monitors aren't as bad as they're being told, I've been living with one for 3 years now. But these days there isn't much difference in price between TN and IPS so IPS is the better option.

VA panels in premium TVs are in a different league, they're so much better than the monitors.

For general use, wouldn't recommend IPS panels because when you see the difference in contrast compared to VA panels, it is outstanding, especially with blacks. You can get a VA panel monitor with the same colour gamut as IPS at a lower price (easily upto 99% sRGB). Also, a 2-4 ms response time is sufficient for most gamers apart from those in really competitive circles. A VA panel is indeed a jack of all trades.

IPS only makes sense if you are also using the monitor in a professional setting. The TV VA panels mostly differ in terms of Ouantum Dot filters which increase the colour gamut and additional coating for glare and viewing angles, which may not be of that much importance for PC users sitting directly in front of the monitor.

For general use in room lighting you wouldn't be able find much difference in contrast between va and ips as the difference isn't like night and day say like an OLED. The perceived contrast will be not much different in normal lighting so if someone wants it for only general use in dark rooms/night time like watching movies and not gaming then VA probably is the better option for them. That is why I mentioned "general use and gaming" which is the use case for many people getting high refresh rate monitors.

OLED displays are priced around 1.93k lac which is exorbitant.
It might take another 3 to 4 years for these displays to come to normal prices like the ones we are buying today.

In my case, I mostly use the monitor for personal stuff after work hours and in a darker environment, the IPS panel in my laptop with its IPS glow is nearly unbearable compared to the VA panel. For non-colour work, it makes no difference when using them during work hours.

Micro LED (and over the short term Mini LED) are going to be more practical options than OLED, especially if no manufacturer is willing to provide burn-in warranty.
 
So if my requirement is that during work hours, the monitor will act as 2nd screen for my work laptop where mostly I intend to keep say teams open during meetings or sometimes when I want web page to be on big screen and all.
During other hours, I may use the same monitor with a fire stick connected (will get a HDMI adapter that takes 2 input and single output) and will watch content on the same with bluetooth audio.

For my purpose is VA at lower price point a better deal with IPS? I won't mostly be using monitor in dark environments.
