The day Govt applauds honest taxpayer, it plans new list of transactions under scanner

To ostensibly widen the tax base, the Income-Tax Department plans to expand the list of reportable financial transactions to include hotel payments over Rs 20,000, life insurance premium payment over Rs 50,000 and health insurance premium payment over Rs 20,000. Besides these, donations and payment of school/ college fees over Rs 1 lakh a year, foreign travel, domestic business class air travel, purchase of white goods, jewellery and paintings over Rs 1 lakh, demat accounts and even bank lockers are proposed to be included in the list of the Statement of Financial Transactions (SFT).

Another fine example of a country where one person (or a handful) makes all the decisions and millions suffer as a result. Sounds familiar?

I wonder when the doctor is going to 'jump' out of a window after saying all this.

Mysterious is so synonymous with deliberate in Russia. Feel really bad for the docs, they are at the receiving end for no fault of their own.
I don't get the logic of announcing the vaccine first without proper trials. People aren't stupid!!

He introduced insurance based health services for public.
Now he is gifting health-history of individuals to those insurance companies (obviously at the expense of tax-payers' money).

Indian-corporate has never seen such a loyal servant.

Yeah, forget about scams of the past here which were more about politicians lining their and their friends pockets. The country has literally been taken over and nobody really seems to care.

My country stands for these values. I promise to do the same on this day of 15th August and forever.
We don’t need anymore guidelines for being a true Indian, than these laid down by the colours of our Indian flag.
Happy Independence Day to all. Jai Hind.

sad reality, "actors" are in politics and real leader are in movies.

Agree, but these "actors" are elected by us only and yet we have such low expectations of them. Such is the reality of our society.

Pls ask this to those millions who are getting treatment with these govt schemes. there are tons of examples. it appears to me that you have never got off your plush bedroom .. it seems to be a habit of your and other guy to do a fault finding in everything govt does. Perhaps lost too much in demon LOL

you are appearing as if you are living in stone age.. throw that smart phone in to gutter if you are so worried about ur privacy... and premium .. Still better than many ponzi schemes launched previously... at least this is really benefiting the poor....go into a govt hospital where people are benefiting from it than wasting your time here blabbering

And somebody made comments on galwan incidents what that have to do with this thread....

Learn to do some basic research .. problem with people is that they think that by paying few re as taxes, they own the country and poor have no rights ... I pay taxes equal to more than the average salary in india. That's my duty to govt and society as large keeping my own family secure.. U dont need to be a soldier to server the society and nation...

and we still have better stats than western world..

1) USA crossed 50,000 deaths in 23 days, Brazil in 95 days and Mexico in 141 days. India took 156 days to reach this national figure.

"There has been sustained focus of the Union and the State/UT governments on improved and effective clinical treatment in hospitals, supervised home isolation, use of non-invasive oxygen support, and improved services of the ambulances for ferrying patients for prompt and timely treatment. Tireless efforts of ASHA workers have ensured effective surveillance and tracking progress of the patients in supervised home isolation," the Health Ministry said in an official statement.

2) On a continuous positive path of slide in its COVID-19 Case Fatality Rate, India has one of the lowest mortality globally. It stands at 1.93%, as of today.

"Clinical management skills of doctors treating COVID-19 patients have been upgraded by active technical guidance through tele-consultation sessions by domain knowledge experts from AIIMS, New Delhi. These measures have collectively ensured seamless and efficient patient management from home to hospital for critical and severe patients. This has ensured that India’s Case Fatality Rate (CFR) is maintained below the global average," the ministry further said.

3) The cumulative recoveries in the country so far are nearing 19 lakh-mark.

"Successful implementation of TESTING aggressively, TRACKING comprehensively & TREATING efficiently through a plethora of measures have contributed to the existing high level of recoveries as well. India's Recovery Rate has reached nearly 72% ensuring more and more patients are recovering. 53,322 have recovered and been discharged in the past 24 hours. With this number, the total recovered COVID-19 patients have increased to more than 18.6 lakh (18,62,258)," the ministry said.

4) The steady rise in recoveries has ensured that the percentage caseload of the country is reducing. The current active cases (6,77,444) compose the actual case load of the country. It is 26.16% of the total positive cases today, registering further drop in the last 24 hours.

9) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said mass production of vaccine for COVID-19 will begin in India once scientists give their nod, and a roadmap was ready to ensure it reaches everyone in the country in the shortest possible time.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on India's 74th Independence Day, Modi said three vaccine candidates are in different stages of trials in the country, adding the talent of our scientists is like that of 'rishi munis'.

10) The phase-1 and 2 human clinical trials of two of them, developed indigenously by Bharat Biotech, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR), and Zydus Cadila Ltd, are currently underway.

Or incompetent governments the world over and their institutions along with the media overyhped this thing that has turned out be less deadly than the flu.
I mean it's not even in the news these days, all you see is distractions in the form of SSR's mysterious death and now the FB bs.

I live in a village in Himachal have been to local govt hospitals multiple times and can see the disarray they are in and what passes for healthcare in these local Civil Hospitals. This is when both state and central govts are of BJP. So maybe it is you who needs to visit the actual facilities before you pass these certificates of excellence to the government.
One time, a female doctor nearly started crying because she was seeing 200+ patients everyday as she was the lone doctor in the hospital where the provision was for 10 doctors. This was a Tehsil level hospital. I pursued the case with the CMO, but he said there was nothing he could do because the govt wasn't willing to hire more doctors. The hospital had more administrative staff than doctors and nurses and had recently been upgraded in terms of building new wings etc. The situation is still as bad 2 years after this happened. The thing is hiring doctors and nurses doesn't have scope for continuous earnings through corruption but building infrastructure allows that, so all the effort is being made in that department but what good does that do for the local resident if there are no doctors in the huge hospitals.

Don't put words in our mouths. Us asking for our rights does not mean that we are taking away the rights of the poor. In fact, being poor or rich shouldn't matter as everyone should have equal rights under a democracy. Paying taxes gives us the right to ask and question how that money is being spent, no matter how small our contribution may be. So it is certainly not wrong for the middle class or even the rich to ask for cheap healthcare as is being made available to other citizens of our country.

Why bother? All the morons going to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi are already building mandals here. My society has started building too. Frigging morons. Nothing's going to happen if people don't pray together this year. I don't even want to pay them any money now. Why pay money to get ill? (〒﹏〒)

Everything is taxed under the GST regime. Every packet of biscuits, milk, electric bills, etc. So 100% people are paying tax indirectly. Even 3% paying tax means bad for the government and all other governments because only that many people earn enough to pay tax. Majority of the country gets less than 3-5L per year and are excluded from tax net. So the government should do something about inequality in pay if they want more people to pay taxes. Pass laws that give people 10L salary per year minimum and see the number of tax payers increase. Taxation is very complicated and not a percentage problem.

well.. its open for debate if it's deadly or not... ask this to somebody who is on wrong side of 50Yrs and is infected and have recovered... Govt did what they could ... ultimately fact is people have the habit of complaining for anything under the sun.. whether govt do something or not ... cry baby's gonna cry .. come what may!!!!!!!!!

Well. I too live in same himachal and both my sons were born via a cesarean section surgery in those vary govt hospitals not too long back...In my local PHS, we have enough doctors and are available on 24x7 at duty...I myself went there 2 weeks back at mid night to get myself checked and doctor did attended to me..

It's very easy to create perceptions .. but you lone village is not whole india or himachal ...and if you have lone doctor there... it;s duty of locals as well to take it up appropriately with authorities and your local MLA.... Irrespective of BJP or khangress... u got to take stick and beat them.. that's how india was born and is.... make them work for their votes....

Do i need to put words in anybody's mouth. I dont have problem with people asking genuine questions but coming on here and running their hidden agenda and hiding behind their pseudo names and taking unnecessary pot shot is what my problem is... either u can be a full time rondu or u can take things in ur hand and start working .. govt is not going to make ur bed or clean ur house.. u got to do it yourself...

Right even with GST , people have found way to not pay it ... don't ask me how... Govt have to increase the indirect taxes when it knows that average joe doesn't like to pay his dues...what option they have because when it matters, these cty babies would bein front row with their mouth wide open.. they will be first to raise questions when they don't get a certain benefit but would be first to protest when govt will ask for their due ..

Passing laws with min salary / wage is good on paper and appear morally correct but the moment govt will step into this domain, we will loose our competitive edge and would be akin to interfering in the free market economy. this is a typical socialist mindset that we need to get over... Still we have minimum wages set for labour ... but still many local shop wallah pay their employees in cash .. there is no way they come under the tax net...
