Don't underestimate a nationalised bank under any circumstance. SBI should always be in ur list. But for ur requirements i guess its not useful.

For you, its between HDFC and ICICI. Leave Axis also.

The recent HP TP firesale has prompted me to look for a good CC. Have a Debit card from Canara but had to pay through ICC/Shopabroad because no option of paying through debit card for online shopping internationally, so the orders got late resulting in cancellations. Refunds/reversals come in very late.

Not writing off SBI but one has ot face long ques in SBI, something I don't really admire.

Is having an Account a pre-requisite for CC? Someone told me International Debit cards can be used for online shopping Internationally, not sure!

I have citibank indian oil CC, got it with my salary account in citibank..It can be used for international orders, but I think there's a conversion fee charged over the prevailing rupee -> dollar rates.

IMO, you can apply for the CC even without having an account in citibank, please see the details on the site :)

I have had good experience with HDFC. Using their CC from almost 7 yrs.
Never ever did they overcharge, even I have been a prompt payer of all the dues..

Not CC per say but for other banking services like withdrawls, account statements, etc.

Again who says ?

Go online way and you will have never issues

For your information adding a third party account is faster than many banks

Its immediate after SMS which comes in 5 minutes

Many private banks takes 24 hrs minimum

I have visited my SBI bank 9 times in last 9 years

Withdrawl - What are ATMs for ?

Account statement - Online

Option of net banking does not mean that when you go to the bank you have to come across long ques. Certainly should be mighty helpful as you say, I've never used before, will surely try.

So should I go with SBI then? Already have an account there.

Some things are definitely a hassle with the govt banks. Major one I noticed - change of address and contact number. It sucks. Have to visit in person. Even HDFC has that. I absolutely despise such rules.

Totally agreed Agantuk, dealings in a Govt. bank are a pain. Guess consumers are safer though compared to Private frauds.

Canara Bank is nearby so operate there. IOB is right across the road, SBI main branch is like half a km away, PNB is also closeby. Other nearby banks: HDFC, Oriental bank of commerce, Dhanlaxmi bank, Citizens co-operative bank, Punjab & Sind(all these across the road).

Tough choice deciding...!

Agreed but its for your account safety man

Secondly change of phone number can be done by registered post with PAN card self attested copy if you are out of city

In private banks I like Axis as I have compared it with ICICI

@op if you are like me, then keep one from each bank. You never know which one will have the best online offers/deals at any given time. I personally have 1 each from SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Barclays, Stan Chart, & Citi :P

But if you want to keep one then it should be either citi or ICICI as cards from these two banks usually have the max number of promotions/offers with online merchants

Can any body help me with a Citi Bank Salary Account. Presently i m with AXIS, but there is no online offers/deals available with AXIS debit/credit cards :(

Although service is good.

I have few Questions for Citi Suvidha salary Account holders.

1.Is it a zero balance account ?

2. Can the debit/ATM card be used on any ATM without any extra charges?

3. Any charge for Online transfer to other bank account ?

4. Any charges for cash deposit at any other citi branch ,apart from home branch(where account is possessed ) ?

@OP. If you are looking for online deals and EMI options. Then get a HDFC/Citi CC.

Almost all your needs would be covered.

Whether you deal at ebay/dell online stores/samsung/letsbuy/nokia. There is an EMI option for Citi CC holders :)

Citi has been by far my best banking experience. Touchwood.

Yes. All salary accounts usually are. Call up CC and confirm in any case.

2. Can the debit/ATM card be used on any ATM without any extra charges?
No extra charges. Again, refer to (1) above.
3. Any charge for Online transfer to other bank account ?

No.

4. Any charges for cash deposit at any other citi branch ,apart from home branch(where account is possessed ) ?

Not sure about this. I only deposited cash in the ATMs. Trust me, finding a Citibank branch is not an easy task. If you happen to stay near one, you have to be super lucky. That said, I visited my bank only ONCE in the 7 years I have had the account.

i don't know why you guys are taking so much pain for CC . Use debit card if it don't work use netsafe . till 90% shop has accepted my debit card but 10% which don't accept i use netsafe simple is that Correct if i am wrong

You can get a citi credit card for free if u have Shoppers stop membership.... Those citi guys hang around the cash counter... and when ever u falsh your membership card they just come up and ask if u ant a citi credit card... Am sure that card can also be used for online offers...
