me ordered the kindle + amazon cover on August 30 and was pretty surprised on Saturday to find my amazon kindle cover had arrived on Saturday Sep 4.

No customs was charged on the cover atleast and i pray that the customs guys extend the same favour to the kindle when it finally arrives :p (Scheduled to ship on about Sep 20)

Here screenshot of the tracking history for the cover. http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/9251/amazontracking.png

Got my Kindle 3 last week! Seriously, you guys have to see the eInk screen to believe it. Very easy on the eyes and the contrast in the Kindle 3 is just awesome. I guarentee it is a better experience than reading on a computer screen or a tablet. There are a few pics pre-loaded as screensavers - some of which look ultra sharp.

So, if you are really serious about reading, especially novels, then go get an ebook reader. Dont think twice.

Are you willing to sell it to me?

Hi congrats on your new buy. Got a few questions for you. Where did you buy it and how much did it cost you. Secondly did you try using it for reading chm files. i assume we have to first convert the chm in mobi format and then read it. any idea how it works

In-Depth Video of the New Sony Reader PRS-650 | The eBook Reader Blog

Here is the video of Sony PRS 650.. .The text looks so much better than that of Prs 600 as it uses the new Pearl display used by Kindle 3. For touch, it uses infra red, so no extra layer of screen, so NO GLARE.. whooott.... Touch screen makes note taking a breeze as compared to Kindle. As I am preparign for GMAT too, this will certainly help a lot.... Waiting for a side by side video of Both devices and then after seeing the difference, will decide on which one to buy.

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

Heya sreenisatish, make a show off thread yar.... Some pics with a book display will be uber cool.. Also, I think you have an older kindle too, right? If so, please post a coupla screenshots comparing the two...

I am only interested in something with an E-Ink. Guys, how does the price of 9350/- sound to you for the Kindle 3 WiFi?
Very high. Buying from shopyourworld.com itself would come to around 8500, which is high too, but 10% lesser than what you have been quoted. Heck, even getting it shipped directly by Amazon.com would be cheaper :)

Can anyone tell me how much would the Kindle 3 WiFi cost after customs and shipping here in India. I am interested in knowing the net price after they refund the custom price.

@bacillus: I'd call that a reasonable deal. Go for it.
@agantuk: SYW prices do not include customs duties. Add the item to the cart and proceed to checkout, and you'll find that it costs Rs.10880. They do offer an option to mark the item as duty free gift, but for that you will need an US sender address; and still there is no guarantee that customs will be waived off. Better to avoid all such hassles and get it from Lynx instead (which is a different kind of hassle, I must add. :P)

Thanks Logistopath. Finally some encouragement. Forgot to mention, Lynx will be using Fedex and not the US Mail service. I will pay them the advance at their shop tomorrow.

^^ Great... Expecting a review soon. :)
I just placed my order at Lynx. But since the Amazon Kindle is out of stock, it will take some time to reach me. As soon as I get it, I will definitely post a review.
