which is the best entry level digital camera?

hi guys !! iam looking for digital camera under 10K.this will be my first digital camera.it should have at least 4x optical zoom or more. iam confused between Canon A590IS and sony W120 which is better? also what are the other options available.

How does the LZ8 compare to the LS80? The LS80 is also available for around that price at jjmehta .com , Digital Camera , Digital SLR , Video Camera , Apple iPod , mobiblu , Sandisk

^^LS80 is older - has just a 33-100mm lens vs the 32-160mm of the LZ8. The latter is the best in that price by a country mile.
 
There's also a W170 cybershot which you could check out ... my friend got one recently for 7.5/8k after he lost his A590is and according to him it's much better than the canon, dunno how it stacks up against the panny though

are u guys sure that the LUMIX DMC-LZ8 camera sold on ebay for 5800rs .. are the real ones ...i meant not fakes right...always bothered abt ebay deals..therefore asking

fake camera till date, I hv never seen :p
you get manufacturer warranty, so there is nothing to worry about. i had got it from a chennai seller smart.in and it was box packed with a stamped warranty card.

I dont think fake camers exist.. But there are the chineese ones with names similar to popular brands.. Like "Protax" which sounds much similar to "Pentax" (for some people atleast!!!)

At the minimum, i can assure you that none of the 12 cameras i ordered were fake :ohyeah:
 
Canon in itself is a good brand, and a590IS will give you chance to learn as well. I have a570IS, and it's manual focus, and specially CHDK is worth going for it.

Hi Dude

Don't ever go for Sony in digital cameras..Sony digital cameras are not good in capturing weak light images...

Check with Nikon 210

Price is 9k+
4GB memmory card is given
8MP
3Xoptical zoom
with all the rest of the features like red eye correction/continous shots/antishock proof etc

dont post crap ,sony captures good detail in low light,and btw most of nikon cameras use sony sensor.infact sony point & shoot cameras most of the time takes better low light images without flash, compared to a nikon point & shoot,only the nikon DSLR and some prosumer cameras are good.check out the reviews.
 
I also ordered six LZ8 cams from Smart. None till date have turned out to be fake.

Panasonic LZ8 FTW :ohyeah:
