it used to be dell by a long way but after the recent incidents i have heard , cant vouch for dell's ASS :D

saw tech2 episode on A.S.S provided by laptop brands&DELL was given highest rating&sony vaio was least...

^Just saw that video, it was stupid and trust me, when your mother board conks off, you wont worry if the service centre is 3km away or 8km or onsite service, you'l want the damn thing replaced with least questions asked, and in that dell comes last..

Dell seriously is the best. Trust me. I have gotten full laptops replaced by them. And dont even touch Acer with a stick. I found MSI (Bombay) decent and friendly. HP is half decent too, but HW is way too crappy.

Apple HW is great and with AppleCare service is excellent.

hmm.. thanks for your opinions. I had a pretty bad experience with dell. Problem is , since these buggers have no physical location you can actually go to, they can and do act pricey on the phone and refuse to register your complaints. And they give you petty solutions which even a school kid would know don't work. Bottom line for me is - The concept of "customer care in India is a myth."

Fine, Any comments on HCL, Lenevo and Samsung Laptops?

I haven't ever heard good things about any of these brands. They will give you junk in the name of "value for money" . Better to go for Compaq if your budget is a bit tight or else invest in the HP Pavilion series. Very few people have complaints, to my knowledge.

A big no to DELL. How is Acer now?

I currently have a Acer Aspire 5583. 2 years old and ready to fall apart like a WW2 relic. my handling is pretty good and i took ample care of the usage. My lappie had a faulty motherboard right when I bought it and it used to crash as a result. I ran around for 1 year trying to get my complaint registered and of course as usual they made up various excuses not to get the complaint registered in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Delhi. Finally 2 days before the warranty period was to end they acknowledged that the mother board WAS faulty(which i had been screaming all along) and changed it. In between, the power button DC board has been repaired three times and there was a problem with the speakers also. I dare not go for Acer or wouldnt even recommend it to any poor unsuspecting soul.

well, yes, most customer cares do not care really, but dell is not that bad from my experience with it.

Recently i used HP active chat service(online) for queries of mine.

It is good service 24x7 online and no waiting queues and i got very good response from them regarding my queries...

As for Dell goes they have good service but it depends on person to person what they have experienced..What happened to them with recent laptops is its design and cooling created huge problems to them resulted in huge exodus of problems from customers.

e.g: XPS series

i fully endorse his views,

no brand is the best with regards to a$$.

still dell is the best among all AFAIK.

its like " andho mein kaana raja"

i dont know the english translation of this :P

i hav 3yrs warranty on my xps1530 and the service has been good so far.here in u.p. they hav outsourced it to wipro so that may account for the great service.

nothin describes better :)

We are talking about laptops here though. Service for laptops is NOT handled by Rashi I believe. An EeePc that had an issue was handled by a different company for warranty even though distri is Rashi. I think it was Memonic Systems or something.
