iOS Why is No One Talking About This? Free Alternatives for WhatsApp Transfer?

I'm trying to transfer my WhatsApp data from Android to iOS using Move to iOS, but the estimated time 9+ hours .Why is no one talking about how slow this is for someone with large backup?

I found an app called iCareFone Transfer, but it's paid ($19), and I haven’t found any free alternatives. Did you guys find any completely free way to do this, or did you just pay for a third-party app?

Would appreciate any help!

Move to iOS is buggy and slow but it will work. I used it to move around 5-6 GB of WhatsApp data after a few attempts. Also, iPhone to iPhone transfer is buggy. I faced issues where it failed at the last step and I had to start from the beginning, but it worked after a few tries. Previously when there was no free app for WhatsApp transfer, I used iCareFone. It works well but it's a subscription model, and I forgot to stop it before it renewed.

I would recommend moving the large video files from the whatsapp media directory and then attempting the migration

thanks a lot that worked like a charm i had 40GB of media :)

Without a USB 3.0-supported device or a paid app, the only feasible way to transfer WhatsApp data is by using Move to iOS, which can be slow if you have large media. So, if you want to speed it up, the best option is to manually copy the Media folder elsewhere before starting the transfer so simple yet stressful situation.

Thread solved.

Your two statements seem contradictory. Did you switch apple and android in the first statement?
Didn't get you, it seems pretty clear to me?

I am answering the question in the title thread that why is nobody talking about a tool to move whatsapp data from android to ios - since nobody is moving in that direction anymore thats why nobody cares about the tool (those who were more into brand name have already switched) - in fact, a lot of the chatter nowadays is where apple loyalists want to move to android after finally realizing how much they have been missing

Not sure why, I moved to IOS 2 years back and had hefty chats (excluding media), I was able to transfer maybe ~30 mins (but yeah, with multiple tries), now shifting back to Android (nightmare process)

Your whatsapp backup size shouldn't be more than 5GB, if it is then you have data in there that you are not accessing on regular basis. I have been using whatsapp for years, and the texts alone can not exceed the 5GB mark. It's always the images, videos, documents, pdfs etc.

Even if you keep the important images+text chats, the total size is still very small. Most of the time the things which take most space in whatsapp are either not needed at all after some point, or should not be left there alone making whatsapp the only means to access that data.

It does require some housekeeping to keep things neat and tidy at least once a year, you have to delete the unnecessary stuff.

On the contrary, the Android market share in India is saturated with most experiencing Android first. The movement to iOS from Android is more likely and in larger numbers than the other way around.

As people's income levels increase, it is more likely they will switch to iPhone which can be based on the fact that in US, iOS has over 50% market share, Japan 70% and in China, Apple had the highest market share among brands until the US tiff. In India, Apple has 71% market share in the so-called "super premium" market above 45k and people tend to move up the price bracket if they can.

I was waiting for your post and was positive that it would be super one sided praising apple for everything positive in the world today. Dont know your source or bias but I dont see that increasing iphone sales in their bottom lines, investor meets or samsung sales in india. Everything points to their stagnating sales which is why over the past few years they have been forced to dilute their brand equity with 'non super premium' phones like 6s 6e or whatever they choose to call it

+ apple iphone is not even a so-called "super premium" phone in the western world it is a workhorse albeit with blinders ..its only in india where it became a status symbol just because of the british and western slavism hangover...but thankfully after so many chapri instances finally it has lost that 'status symbol'. It is not even "super premium" in India nowadays.

All that I posted is based on facts that anyone can independently verify on the web. You might again not see any impact on top or bottom lines but it exists.

Not sure where you see the praise as while I use an iPhone, I have always also had an Android device, even though it is mostly a tablet now, having started with Android when it was on Eclair. Pretty much know why one may prefer one over the other but your opinion of it is incredibly naive and doesn't reflect the market reality.
