Microsoft download links are down due to heavy traffic.

They should thank these torrent sites who are helping them indirectly.

no they are not.

try from Internet Explorer 6.

i did & its working.

Well well.. apparently I wont be able to use vista (rather aero) to its max on my laptop coz it does not meet the minimum hardware requirements. Actually its more like driver requirement coz the morons at Intel refused to write WDDM drivers for GMA900/915.
Earlier it was in the supported list but now only 945 will be supported. IF the morons dont want to write the drivers then why the fSck are they still selling it. :@
Man I feel like selling my laptop. ANy takers for a 5 month old laptop for 35K :P

yes i have 1gb ddr400 and axp64 3200 venice core. if it can run aero, how can i activate it as i *think* it is not activated by default on my system.

Hey guys do we require to install antivirus in vista?

Will all the softwares worked in XP will work in vista or not?

Should i need to do a clean install or should i dual boot with XP?

And does it also include Aero interface?

Will it run smoothly on my PC?

My PC specs are: P4 3.0Ghz, 512 MB Ram, Nvidia 6200 AGP card.

1.no AV is optional
2.Most of them must work
3.clean install on a fresh partition...AFAIK u can have XP in other partitions but pls confirm before installing
4.yes
5.yes

what is the main difference between 32 and 64 bit? extra features or something that is worth downloading the 64 bit for? coz i downloaded the 32 bit one lol....

64-bit is multi-threaded applications. So having a 64-bit proccy with 64-bit OS are made for each other. Also games in the future are going to be all multi-threaded. Some sites with some details :-

1. PC Stats :- Gives a run down of multi-threaded benchmarks.

2. Extreme Overclocking :- A wiki detailing about some multi-threaded games

3. Windowsnetworking:- A review of running Vista.

To make the long story short, for multi-threaded applications one needs an OS which supports multi-threading & also need atleast a dual-core chip. On the server side MS is going to position/showcase the 64-bit version atleast till enough multi-threaded applications are not there on the desktop level as well as a mass of dual-core/multi-core chips.

In some cases the improvements can go upto 50% but as it's beta one can't say. There would be some bugs along the way

Give us a review of Aero & more interestingly the indexing & searching process if that's been speeded up or not. I just wish I had one of these multi-core processors with 1 Gig of RAM & a decent graphics card then would 've gone all the way & tested it out.

64-bit computing has nothing to do with multithreading. You'll have to read up a bit on CPU design to understand what 64-bit code is all about. Have a look at wikipedia's entry here. From what I can summarise: essentially at the microprocessor's execution core, all calculations are essentially done either with integer or floating point numbers. While floating point operations have already gone into 128bit, integer operations in modern day processors still remained 32-bit. And we're talking about a 32-bit binary number. 64-bit processors on the other hand allow operations using 64-bit binary numbers, without having to first break them down into smaller bits for the processor to digest. But there's a whole lot more that goes into this. Please allow Kingkrool, Chaos or others to correct and continue my explanation.
