Need to buy a Windows Phone 8 device for official work. Where can I order/pre- order from.
Need it urgently.

That 450$ price tag is for a locked phone and you wont get the unlock codes for another 6 months atleast, so you cant compare with those locked prices, better compare the European unlocked prices.

My comment was generic about all the manufacturers not just Nokia.

Actually, Nokia had to beat the competition in some manner - simply having the best of hardware and software won't win it business. By making it exclusive to AT&T in US and Rogers in Canada, they have managed to get a fantastic $99 contract price which would have been $250-$300 for any top-of-the-line smartphone.

So, people do despise AT&T but $99 is too sweet a deal for the Lumia 920!

But the monthly plan cost wont be fantastic, Rogers has the most expensive plans in Canada I think and people will take this into consideration.
I'd rather pay a bit more initially then have to pay double each month for the same services.

^ I'm not really sure but monthly plans aren't fantastic anyways on AT&T right? Do we have really different plans for the lumia 920 as compared to other flagship phones like the iphone and s3? A $200 initial saving is quite eye-catching though.

From what i am reading on slickdeals, one has to buy the phone for the no commitment price of 450$ + tax, call AT&T within 3 days (very important) and cancel the wireless number and tell them you just need the phone. This way you do not have to pay the plan fee (59.99 $) and the one time activation fee (36$) and get to keep the phone. Then call up AT&T and ask for unlock code since you bought the phone for no-commitment price. They would give you unlock code. No need to wait for 6 months.

Yeah, all their plans are shitty. And I'm talking about Rogers.
Yeah the initial saving is great if you are already on Rogers, but not when you have to switch to Rogers to get Lumia 920.

This workaround is of no use for people living in India, ebay unlock codes get cheap(1$-3$) only after 6 months of release, so its still not correct to compare unlocked phone pricing with locked phones, EU markets have factory unlocked prices and we should compare with that.

Unlock codes for AT&T Lumia 920 are available for $70 at cellunlocker.net.
They also have a 50% off coupon.

Thanks for that link! However, this was the comparison I was looking for:

The sad news is, the 920 isn't launching in India this month as was mentioned in their press release before. :(

Nokia Press Release said:
*During November, the Nokia Lumia 920 will reach Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the UK, the US and Vietnam.

Nokia Lumia 920 is not launching in India in November [and it is not delayed] | News & Video Reviews of Gadgets at BGR India

Turns out India wasn’t supposed to be mentioned in that press release and it was an error. A Nokia India spokesperson has confirmed the same to BGR India and Nokia India will announce the availability details as soon as they freeze on the launch date. We were told by our sources that the phones were currently being tested extensively with all carriers in India to ensure that they don’t face any issues after the launch.

^ USB OTG would have been a killer feature since the data capacity is limited (I know 32 GB is quite a lot but still carrying all data in a portable HDD for trips is easier).

I read somewhere that while HDDs cannot be read, flash disks can. I'm not sure though.

If Nokia Lumia 920 does not support USB OTG feature then it will be a shame. This is a killer feature and windows phone should support it. Else, in front of S3 or Note, we need to hide our windows phone.

^ Yeah, but it is still an awesome feature packed phone. Along with the exclusive Nokia apps, it is an extremely strong competitor to S3 and Note 2.

I'd say wait until the second week of December. India is probably getting a Christmas launch for the device. You will not only get local warranty for the device but can as well get it for a bargain. I noticed the HTC 8X retailing for <35k in Saholic. If that's any indication of the approx. pricing, Nokia's device shouldn't be pricier by a couple of grands at the most.

Sei: 32 GB itself seem to be an overkill sorts for me. :p

Yeah, it is a feature packed phone but my friend has Samsung Note and if I buy this phone then he gonna compare both the phones feature by feature and now there is one more feature which 920 lacks. If Nokia lumia 920 going to be around 35k then I believe it is better to buy Note 2 rather than 920.

How good is Saholic for shopping. I tried calling them but no 1 taking the call. I am kept only on waiting.
