YOU Broadband - Chennai - Beware

ACT was extremely fast in acquiring the first month's fee. I called today and the guy shows up in an hour. Hope I don't get burnt third time in a row!
 
They installed it by default as the booster picks up another 5 connections from my terrace. The booster power point is plugged to my power outlet from my house. It constantly needs to be up and should not be switched off. I get a credit of Rs.150/- for this connection.

Well, I have one of those 5 connections on an already installed modem, the Ethernet cables runs for about 60m from the other building.

****ing hell. My Internet is down again. **** YOU!

Feel bad for you mate, do give ACT a shot, they should be better. Which area are you in?
 
I've called every possible guy who's number I have, apart from customer support. They don't even pick up the calls! And support just says 4-12 hours.

Yeah, even YOU came fast and took the money but gave the connection after a month. ACT is however, more professional I think. It has come to phase where we need to select which thief is better but a thief would remain a thief whether it is YOU, ACT or Airtel
 
Just go their local office with the proof of payment, receipt etc and tell them firmly that you will not leave until you get your cash back. They did the same thing to me, took money and didn't install for 3 months.

Any update? Just made my renewal to the 100mbps WTF plan, fingers crossed!
 
You broadband customers are you getting proper speeds on torrents, I am getting abysmal speeds since last night, please confirm?

Downloaded couple of movies last night and the torrent download speed range was between 2 mbps to max of 3 mbps. Maybe the torrents you were downloading did not have seeders.

Haha, told you it would be brilliant, upload speeds of 73Mb/s insane man, were the steam speeds constantly on 10MB/s?

Yup. I'm getting the same thing on torrents with high seeds as well.

The connection was great over the weekend, but this morning, it went down for an hour and then I've been having disconnections every few hours for 2 to 10 minutes each - around 5 disconnections in total. Quite annoying since I got disconnected from a game of Dota. I hope this doesn't keep happening.

Edit - No connectivity since 2 AM last night. The complaint I made yesterday was resolved according to an SMS I received yesterday but it's still not working. I'm sort of losing hope. I guess it really boils down to luck with these guys. :/

Edit 2 - FALSE ALARM. I'm a dolt. Changed my password and didn't update it in the router settings.

Okay my connection has been down since Sunday morning and I'm not getting a proper response from the customer care. Same crap every single time I call - 4 to 12 working hours saar... but nothing happens.

Not sure what to do.
