Courier Service Feedback

that sucks. did you find any company that does usa tracking and sends for cheap? cost of rpi and cost of shipping would be same for Fedex/Bluedart i guess.

PPOBOX.com is what I have selected for now. So far, they look alright to me. I will keep you all posted here. :)

Starting slabs of FedEx, DHL, DTDC, BlueDart are just too high. The last I had enquired at FedEx, it came to about 2200/2500 for the first 500 grams.

Update: @6pack ..I am impressed with PPOBOX service. PPOBOX managed to forward the package the day they received it. To my surprise, it was forwarded through DHL (yay! full tracking). And the total shipping cost was close to what they had quoted on the phone during the prior inquiry.

I recently sent 3 bulky items through Gati courier (one of them contained liquid) and was satisfied with the overall service. The tracking was accurate.
The bad: For one of the parcels, the last mile delivery was not done and customer had to pick up
The good: The package arrived in good condition. One of the parcels contained electronic goods like amplifier and speakers and it was delivered in good condition.

DTDC never delivers items to my place, i have to manually collect it from there office which is 10kms away.. Also they are very careless, sold my HD700 to respectable fellow in this group, they damaged it while shipping..

Professional courier also very careless, they damaged my hd800s hard case while shipping , luckly it was the case that was damaged and not the headphones..

I recently sent a ukulele with India post (parcel was 84rs, speed post 236rs for 1.6kg box). I sent it thru parcel. lets see if it reaches fine and dandy

Guys, might be off topic (in that case actual mods kindly delete), after reading some posts I wanted to share something which may be important and applicable for others.

I have to courier my passport quite often to a travel agent. Normally I use Bluedart, they have a priority packet and they reach from a Tier 2 city to Mumbai in like 3 days max. In recent time, the travel agency was not able to ship it through Bluedart.
They used Professional Courier with their service called - Pro Premium . It states it is to be used for time sensitive and important documentations. And wow, 12 days of sleepless nights it was.
Once it was picked up, the tracking never went live for like 3-4 days. Then it showed until 11th day that it was in transit from Mumbai to Kolkata.
I tried contacting the central customer service, rarely they answer phone or reply to email. I called up Mumbai office, the center where the article was shipped from, the ProPremium desk, the Kolkata office. No one could give any info whatsoever.

So cutting to the chase, if you are ever faced with the proposition of couriering something valuable and very important, please do not fall for this service. Professional Courier - ProPremium.

Reliability wise (connection to tier-2 city) I'd have the following rank:

1. Bluedart (Expensive, but peace of mind, and incredibly fast)
2. Delhivery (Cheap, good connectivity)
3. First Flight (not sure if they are open anymore, they were very fast)
4. DTDC (IMO, Delhivery surface is faster than DTDC Surface)
* GoJavas was good and fast, then Snapdeal ruined it.

I think DTDC tracking system is excellent. Per se if shipment coming via air, their internal tracking system even records the flight number where the article is travelling)

DHL for domestic ? BTW DHL and Bluedart are same company DHL is for international and bluedart for domestic service.

I had to once send sensitive docs and walked into one of their DHL centers.
They accepted, took some kyc docs and filled up some forms. Shipped evening time, Delivered next day before 12 pm ( Delhi - Mumbai ).
Was expensive but got my work done.

Was a few years back. Maybe things have changed now but would rate dhl and fedex better than local solutions if its passport or things like that

Yes they do book domestic shipments but are thru Bluedart as said theyre one company but with 2 different names.

@chiro3110 for sensitive documents, after bluedart, its better to use DHL. I rate them better than Fedex based on experience.

Yea.. for Metro-Metro makes sense. For Tier-2 Fedex is not good. They use third party vendors who literally dilute the whole express stature.

Probably when you used DHL years back, it was separate entity for domestic usage.

Now actually for the last mile connection if a direct DHL office is not available (like in my city) the shipment comes via Bluedart. Example, USA to my city (Asansol). From US to Kolkata trackable on DHL site. Then for last part I can track with same waybill number on the Bluedart site. (Also updates on DHL site, but is late).

I am using delivery from last 3 year . I feel that it is the most committed company towards providing best service to its customer . its pricing is best amongst its competitors (of course not India post) and almost 9 out of 10 times they deliver within their promised delivery date. I will highly recommend it.

I think delivery has stopped pickups via online portal. I am not able to find pickup page..

DTDC Hyderabad : item undelivered to actual consignee
according to SMS & web tracking :
delivery made to some other person at a different location !

it might be interesting to have a look at related complaints on Twitter

none receives phone call at DTDC even after waiting for 10 minutes [AVRS] ...

DTDC Imphal.

I recently ordered some fishing equipment from Cochin (Kerala) and the seller shipped them via DTDC. There was tracking but little information was shown on the page. Its as if they didn't update it or something. It was "in transit" for 11-12 days. I finally went to one of their branches in my town which directed me to another branch about 10 kms away. I called their service helpline before going but they didn't pick up my calls. On reaching their branch they again directed me to another third-party courier company and its location. I also got the numbers of this company and dialed but again calls weren't answered. I went to the location and it was the old one and they weren't there anymore so I had to go around asking people about the new location. On finally reaching the office of the third-party courier company, I noticed them arranging the packages for delivery. I was then able to get my stuff from there itself. Spent the whole day for it.
It was not a nightmarish experience but still bad service.
What good is a customer service if there's no service? Management is obviously messed up and the managers should be fired.

Another B**st eg. of Delayed Delhivery..
