Oh boy. This would be the first thing I would get rid of.

I do understand that though for a budget build it served well for its time.

so the question : is your existing 1600 is throttling down and making you think that you require 3600 to play at 1440p

I think it’s bottleneck me quite hard, like I mentioned in the previous post playing Horizon 4 at 1440p at Ultra I am getting only 50% gpu utilisation which I think is pretty bad bottleneck.

Also don’t think it’s a throttling issue, the CPU is running decently cool. More the issue of the IPC that the 1st gen Ryzen had.
 
Depending on how much you are willing to spend, you can change the board and get a 3600 or just the 3600. I don't know much about your board so as long as that isn't a limiting factor for you, the 3600 should get the job done at 1440p. Maybe you can replace the board later if you want to jump to 5600 but from a 3600 I doubt it's a worthwhile upgrade given you play at high res. Or go straight to 5600x now and be future-proof to an extent, depends on your budget.
 
There's possibly a Zen 3+ coming to AM4 later, so AM4 is not exactly dead yet. Not that anyone with a Zen 3 will need to upgrade but this could mean there is an upgrade path and people don't have to change platforms till DDR5 matures.
 
Regarding CPU pricing, 11600k is available for 25k, so I would assume 11400/f would be around 18/16k in some time. At these prices these processors have better performance compared to a 3600 for people building a new PC. Hopefully AMD will counter this in the 2nd half of the year.

11400f will be available in Bangalore next week, not sure about the iGPU version. The 11500 costs about 19k so the 11400f could be around 15k/16k. It definitely is like a better choice than 3600 even at 17k from performance perspective.

If its possible and an upgrade isn't needed right away, won't it be better to wait for the 12 Gen Alder Lake / 12 Gen.

Thats supposed to be on the 10nm node and have DDR5 and PCIE5. A lot of tech reviewers I have heard are saying its better to skip the 11th gen and go onto the 12 gen when it comes out in Q4 2021 ???

Yeah yeah it is. 11400f is just a something that somone building a new system now needs to consider as opposed to just 3600 which was reigning at this price point before. Given the it's priced competitively.

If someone doesn't really need an upgrade right away, it's better to wait--but for what? They are going to deal with early adopter tax with DDR5. And PCIe 5 is not really relevant, even PCIe 3 isn't being saturated by today GPUs I think. Better to wait and see how DDR5 modules are priced and for the platform to mature.

Are there any ryzen 3 5th gen processors on the horizon ?? Hopefully AMD launches something at the lower end also cause intel seems like a more logical choice right now in that regard.

New APUs got announced. Supposed to be OEM only initially. Hopefully non-x versions of chips and quad cores will follow

The 4000 series APU were also for OEM although they were on sale on the sites like MDC and others but warranty can be tricky with those. Really hope this time AMD does not do the same for these ones as well.
 
That was unfortunately quite out of my budget. I got the ASRock B550m Pro 4 after reading all the reviews for a budget board.
How's the board? Does it support Resizable Bar? I'm on the fence between this and the MSI B550 A PRO.

Dumb question - I know updating the bios to the latest version unlocks the potential to use the new ryzen series but the warning says that it cannot be flashed back anymore, so does it mean that I cannot use a 3600x?

I'm set on the B550 A PRO too. If I actually get to the point of putting together my build.

But what is this warning you speak of? I thought the 550 boards had out of the box support for 5000 series and also supported 3000 series (just not the APUs).

The board is pretty neat for it's price. I know that B550 supports new series and 3000 series, what I'm not sure about is how the bios download sections have written 'no longer support to flash back to older bios' for their latest bios downloads. I'll have a 3600x and was wondering if flashing the latest BIOS for the A PRO will then stop supporting my cpu.

I read that Asrock has not yet released BAR support for some of their boards, that's why wanted to know from that guy if the B550m Pro 4 has it or not.

I'm not able to find this, maybe I'm not looking in the right place. But I think it means you can't downgrade your bios?
