Review Amazon India - Feedback Thread

NK has mastered that too & much earlier & better than India. Modern artillery is not rocket science, the basics are known since first world war.
The difference is as dramatic as cannot respond to 26/11 vs. What you saw after Uri & Pulwama.

Seems easy but, then why were we not there in 2008? Better leadership. Which means putting the right people in front of a task like the late Manohar Parrikar. It's just so sad we lost him to pancreatic cancer.

In the early 90s we couldn't build these guns which you say are WW1 era (completely incorrect) and had to import bofors. We don't need to do that anymore.

These days we need them to be lighter. So we've imported the American M777's which are light enough to be lifted by chinooks and dropped in any Himalayan valley you want. We won't be buying more as have got full ToT for them. Because Americans prefer motorised artillery to towed which doesn't work so well for us in the mountains.
Yes it will be much further along but also much further behind China & US at that time.
This is what I mean by unfair comparison. Compare where we were not vis a vis them and you see steady progress.
15 years back that is somewhere around 2009, at least whatever I expected came to be realised now & at that time I didn't expect to leave behind or even catching up to China & the same view I hold today for the next 15 years.
Twenty years ago Chinese products were not better than Japanese. Today there still are categories they cannot match in Japanese. Chinese don't get demoralised because of this. They keep at it.
Without the radical fundamental reforms in land, labour & bureaucracy sector the "make in India" will remain a laggard with some successes mixed in between.
Labour & land were attempted back in 2015 with the government beating a hasty retreat. Pick and choose what battles to fight.

Bureaucracy? Heh. They can bring the country to a standstill if they want.
I won't post anymore on this here for being off topic so start a new thread or wait for some mod to move these posts to a new thread.
As you like. I've made my points

Have to start somewhere. Chinese learned like that too. Baby steps before you do long jump. Don't forget China wants to move up the value chain. Someone will pick up the slack and about damn time we did too
I don't think you know this but, there were hundreds of plastic and other raw material manufacturing in India which had to close down because China actively subsidized their industries at huge losses while the Indian govt did nothing. I've seen nylon and rayon manufacturing companies in India shut down because they couldn't compete with Chinese prices which were 1/2 the Indian prices even after being imported and taxed. There were tons of plastic manufacturing factories like Cello etc near my home but now most of them just import stuff. This is the same story in all sectors. From toys, fans, lights, switches, electric motors to transformers. Everything closed down. Our govt didn't do anything since they were afraid of losing money and they think everyone is out to rob them. Manufacturing is gone from India for such small sectors.

And all Indian governments (of past, present, and future) like to f*** the people twice, first by maliciously (with all intent and bad faith) screwing the local businesses and then taxing the Chinese goods again when people buy them. Even Tata Steel has plants in China (via partnership and increasing their presence further), cuz it's profitable there. A family member works at Tata Steel, (contracts with Indian Railway, Mahindra, Maruti you name it). Guess where the technology eventually comes from. If not directly there is subsidiary of a subsidiary of a subsidiary in China.

+1 on moving the thread

Bought a fold 6 s pen case which shipped after 10 days. Got today and the product arrived as damaged to bit and pieces. Box torn with taped all over the body, case looks like it was ran over by truck, totally filthy condition. Even it had the previous buyer bill (return order). This is the new low for amazon. Only return is available as it's not available with amazon seller. Posted for return.

Anyone else feeling kind of fatigued by the current sale? It's going on for forever now and nothing I'm watching has dropped in price, ha.
"There is no spoon sale"
I got some unexpected cashback on a few items, so 10% card discount + 10% CB = 20% off total

The vast majority of my orders since the sale started have been products that are open box customer returns. It's something i've gotten used to. But then, I got this today:

I mean, at this point, it makes more sense not to order from Amazon (replacement/refund refused — tampered packaging, damaged product).

is it physically broken too?

USB port is crushed, so yes

What's your area pincode for delivery? Have you talked to others/know about similar incidents in your area recently?

That's the most messed up part, all of these orders were next-day or same-day delivery.

This means everything that was returned damaged or open box and resold to me was a scam/fraud perpetuated by other customers who are local to me.

I'm literally in a den of thieves — they're people in my own area and/or pin code!

This also means Amazon's punishing the people who live in the same pincode/area as these scammers/fraudsters by sending them the damaged/defective goods.

I've often noticed that amazon would put customer returns on the same shelf as "new" and would try to deliver that to the next customer, hoping the customer does not notice/does not care/does not want the hassle of return and accepts the product with dusty
/torn up packaging/minor usage marks. And it works too probably.

That's exactly what Az is doing. Marking and selling such returned as refurbished means losing 10-15%. Conning the next buyer means 10-15% profit.

Since we are already too lazy to shop in stores, we probably won't want the hassle of returning it.

It was only during the great shopping sale that things had somewhat discounts. Nothing major now

i last week placed order for a samsung galaxy a9+ tab on amazon with a flat-discount of 5k on icici cc. received the tab with proper amazon box-packing but the seal on the inner samsung box was broken (reading the earlier posts, seems it could've been a previously-returned product; the device with its protective cloth-cover & the box itself look spic-'n-span though). raised a complaint, and a replacement is on the way this weekend.

and yesterday during the new/extended sale, i've placed order for a sewing machine for someone, the price of which i had been following. seller had increased the price by 500/- few days ago but it was back to its original price y'day which is when i placed the order finally, utilizing my cc again to avail a discount of ~450-500.

Not having a great experience purchasing fans from Flipkart or Amazon this festive season. After Flipkart losing the fan somehow at their local hub and finally cancelling the order more than a fortnight later, I placed the order for the same fan on Amazon.

The package arrived with electrical tape all over it which raised my suspicions, so I video recorded the unboxing. As expected, it was an unpacked unit with the motor unit scratched and having a manufacturing date from March 2023. Really unfortunate that Amazon even allows such things to happen.

Asked for a replacement which is from the same seller, so not sure what to expect. At least this one is coming from the south whereas the previous one was from the north, so at least it is not the same warehouse.

Mom bought a kadai a couple month back. Got the product delivered when I was in town but I was in a meeting so asked the delivery guy to drop it by the door. Went to get the box and immediately noticed it was weightless and definitely not the 1 kg weight mentioned.

Called up amazon without even opening to verify and they asked me to open it up anyway and a video is not required so did exactly that with the customer care agent on call. Turned out it wasn't empty but a plastic mixed cup (yay!). Agent said its not an issue and that they will schedule a pickup and offer refund.

Thought that went well and went back to city. Then got a call from mom as apparently the delivery guy refused to pick it up despite what the agent told me. So asked her to call up customer care again and make a complaint. Which sort of worked as he did come back and pick the box with the precious little plastic cup. A couple weeks pass but the status is stuck at processing or something like that so asked mom to raise another complaint. She did and they told that they will check it and promised a refund withing a week.

Another couple weeks passes and got to know that there was absolutely no progress when I got back to town. I called up customer care and had to shout for like at least an hour to multiple people, constantly getting transferred and waiting, listening to the stupid tone till it actually ****ing ended and had to sit there in complete silence. Finally got them to admit that they ****ed up and got them to raise another request and actually give me my money back.

So it was a shit show and it sucks that you have to express anger to actually get some sort of resolution. Took more than a month and 6-7 calls to fix their incompetence but finally got there.

As a follow-up, the replacement was also a re-taped box. This time it had the safety cable missing and the manufacturing date was from June 2023. Have a return scheduled now.

For reference, the seller's name is RetailEZ Pvt Ltd and they have around a 65% rating on Amazon. Seems like the others, this too was another company Amazon offloaded to while reducing its stake and is owned by promoters of Rupa garments. Would recommend avoiding this seller.
