Hello fellow members, I am intending to trade my 7 month old Palit 4870 1GB Sonic card for an equivalent nvidia card or higher/lesser one performance level(GTX 275 / 280 or GTS 250) +/- cash, I had purchased it from Lamington Road, Mumbai, shall provide the original bill on purchase...

now for the first time have I been disappointed by Ubuntu, installed the beta and everything was fine.... installed the RC today and BOOM... no sound... !!! P.S.: Im just a dumb moron, changed the default device in audio properties and alls well now... :ashamed:

I'm so sorry, the name of the service is "Superfetch" while the job it does is prefetch :ashamed:, try looking up for superfetch and disable it... and then check if the system is still using up 5gb of memory...

my system.. as in the sig... has been performing without a hitch on a VX450...

Its actually a feature of windows vista... it would cache all the applications you use in the memory so all of it is actually utilized... this causes the system to respond a lot slower... you can disable this feature by turning off the "prefetch" service from "services.msc".... this...

65nm -> 45nm took 3 years and 45nm -> 32nm will be done in another year or so... but from 22nm - > 4nm @ 10 years time that too when the technology is only going to increase.... guess moore's law wasn't incorrect after all....

hmmm.... try taking it to 80%... which is ur cabby... is it well ventilated... ?? i have a sonic 4870 1GB but it hasnt crossed 62 degrees ever...

try increasing the fan speed in catalyst control center...

whatever number of fans you keep in a cabby, just make sure that the number of intake fans are atleast equal or more than the exhaust, also use a higher CFM fans as intake to maitain a positive air pressure inside the cabby.... I'm sure it would, its a pure beast, wonder why corsair rated it...

ive got an o'ced Q6600, 4 sticks of ram, an factory o'ced 4870, 2 hdds, a pair of CCFL tubes and 10 fans in my cabinet in all... (2 in the front, one at bottom, one at the sides, one at the back, 2 at the top and 3 fans on my TRUE 120), my cabby is a CM 690 and guess what, the VX450 doesnt break...

I'm on a overclocked Q6600 n a 1GB 4870 with 2 HDDs n I've never felt any power related issue.... will handle ur system with ease...

well you can call it the fastest stock quad core processor in terms of raw ghz but not something which would beat its intel counterparts... performance/oc'ing wise... just another Phenom II I guess... unless AMD would pull out a rabbit from its hat...

my palit sonic 4870 1GB was DOA.. but was replaced on spot after i got it back... no questions asked... have been working awesomely since...

To begin with, I have no idea as to how well a stock intel cooler will handle an "o'ced quad"... please post your idle and load temps(run prime95 with small ftfs) @ stock speed... and then you have a Iball PSU which I don't know whether it can handle a rig as yours which also has a GTX 260...
