Hey, will the v1 onu work aswell or it has to be v2? Im gonna do with jio
AFAIK, V1 has the most compatibility across Jio and Airtel. I know it does for airtel at least. In case you get one, and it doesn’t work, you can have my V2 in exchange of V1.
Oh thanks so much!!
So did it work for you?
Yeah it did
Which one worked with jio v1 or v2?
Both work, while I was finding how to do it people used v2 but I bought v1 by mistake and it worked the same no problem. Many others have used v1 aswell so I’ll say both work no problem.
Okay, thanks. What do you think I should choose: TP-Link or VSOL V2802RH? Which one is better regarding compatibility with ISPs?
vsol v2802rh
It’s a proper xPON with 2.5G port
Not sure. Unless you need the 2.5g port because you have ISP internet above 1g, its gonna be useless anyway. Idk if the vsol has some feature that makes it stand out but if you can adjust the settings in the tp link enough to pass the internet then it doesn’t matter which you take at all.
Pick whichever is cheaper, don’t look at which works “better” since both serve same purpose and that’s too pass internet from ISP. You won’t have any issue nor miss any feature picking the cheaper option.
Could you please share where you bought the VSOL V2802RH and how much it cost?
Its 3k while tp link is 1k. I suggest go for tp link. There is no difference except 2.5g port and that’s for 2.5g fiber internet which you might not have. Tp link has 1g which is enough for everyone. There is no fundamental difference just vsol being more expensive
I had the G3 V2 previously. It worked perfectly with JioFiber. When I switched to Airtel, I had some issues wrt the VLAN settings. Initially I referred to the settings in the Airtel Router and tried using those VLAN IDs. That did not work. Neither did the common IDs I found online. I used the VLAN scan function on the G3 and it returned two IDs. The first one worked and I got internet. IPv4 addresses were getting assigned but I could never get IPv6 to work. Later I sold the G3 on TE. In hindsight I could have tried a few more things but at the time, it was a hassle.
Airtel provided a Wi-Fi 6 router and it is surprisingly decent. So I postponed my upgrade plans until routers with proper 6GHz support are available in India. My only annoyances are that port forwarding is blocked on 80/443 (works on other ports) and that I cannot change the DNS settings on router itself.
Still I would need an ONU when the time comes. So I was considering getting the VSOL if it has less quirks/issues compared to the G3. I don’t need 2.5GbE. If there are any other options, let me know.
I got a G3 V2, tried using it with airtel. Managed to get to O5 after changing the GPON SN, but couldn’t get the VLAN numbers from scan. Then connected a VSOL 2.5G which worked perfectly fine. Tried to use the VLANs that I got from VSOL on the G3 V2, again stuck on O5 without an ip. Gave up after a while and just used the VSOL instead. Getting both Ipv4 and v6.
VSOL V2802RH is a very versatile XPON, it will work with any ISP you throw at it. GPON or EPON, doesn’t matter. If you have a SFP+ port on your router, then obviously a RTL9601D XPON Stick which will terminate fiber directly inside it.
i want to get onu for jiofiber.
where did you buy G3 V2 from? only options available seems to be this TP link XZ000-G3 1-Port Gigabit GPON Terminal – Rs.1290 – LT Online Store
is this site legit?
They are 100% legit. But better to go with V1 if you can find one. Though jio works with both v1 and v2 afaik.
I bought mine from another TE member. The link you shared is legit though.
