Looking to buy a new 65-inch TV, what are the options I can consider? I am looking for good options from known brands.
Sony Bravia 2 65" under 70k or opt for Hisense/Vu 65" options for 45k or so to save money.
Samsung & LG are priced too close to Sony IMO, so just buy Sony for the better picture quality optimisation.
I bought Bravia 2 55” for 38k last BBD. This year’s BBD the 65” should be lower than 60k or it’s not worth it
Recently my cousin and my sis got bravia 3 55in though.. we felt 3 is better than 2 and ofcourse 5 was way ahead of the. We got bravia 3 55in for 68k from reliance
If you want a 65-inch under 70k, I’d say go for the TCL Q6CS Mini-LED. It usually sells for around 68–69k. You get Mini-LED with proper local dimming, plus Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Atmos with Onkyo speakers, and even 144Hz/VRR if you play games. For the price, it packs in features you normally only see in higher ranges.
Mini-LED is better than the normal LEDs you see from Sony or Samsung in this budget. Those are edge-lit, so blacks look gray and HDR doesn’t really pop. Mini-LED has thousands of small lights behind the screen that dim in zones, so dark scenes look darker and bright parts look brighter. If you want to understand the difference better, here’s a good video:
The Hisense U7Q/U7K is the better choice if you care purely about picture quality, but the 65-inch models usually sit around 75–80k. If you find one on sale under 70k, grab it. If not, and you can stretch the budget a bit, it’s worth going for.
TCL 65 inch C6K or Q6C or QM6K. It’s a MiniLED QLED.
Same TV but different model numbers for different markets.
I’m very happy with my choice. The picture quality is OLED like. People who have never used an OLED TV on a daily basis won’t be able to tell the difference.
Review:
It’s around 70-75k in India. Let me know if you have any questions.
This and the comment just above is the advice the OP and new buyers should be looking for instead of the generic Sony best.
The days of Sony and the Korean brands being the best are over.
Ultimately, it’s your money and your wish.
I will nail on VU or Hisense or even Mi but stay away from Sony due to personal exp.
Picture quality tuning is still better in big 3 with Sony having slight edge over Samsung/LG. But the thing is, the difference is generally minimal.
IMO for most people, basic Hisense/Vu TVs are more than enough & will be a big upgrade easily. For someone spending a bit more, they would like it to be from a big brand for peace of mind.
Beyond basic TVs, anything between that & OLED or miniLED (300+ zones) is a waste of money, Bravia 3, LG QNED, Samsung QLED, etc. Again, just slightly better over basic TVs w/o justifying the extra cost. I know people in my friends & family who don’t even see OLED as a big jump in panel quality over LCD when they see my LG C3 (we tech enthusiasts are a different breed).
My experience is based on what I read online & what I saw in showrooms in side by side comparisons. Say when I compared LG C3 vs Sony A80L, sure the latter was slightly better, but C3 55" was under 120k & A80L was 150k about 1.5 years ago, me & my friend were like it’s not worth the extra money.
As far as TCL is concerned, they generally bring poor quality stuff to India unlike US/EU, so I have always been hesitant to recommend it to anyone.
