Hmm 9600GT just got more VFMed, there is a Foxcon one selling for 165$. Its a no-brainer there....

I'd still pay 40 odd more for the 8800GT. It seems the more complex shader games are still killing the 64 SPs. Its only on less complex games that are more speed dependent is the 9600GT closing the gap.

But I agree that at 165$ the 9600GT is supreme value, NV has just delivered mroe power to the people. Now if we could have a 320$ card that outperforms an 8800 Ultra with 50% less heat and a single slot solution I'd have an NV banner flying from my place :ohyeah:

read at oder forum where a guy got it for like 11960....
may was the operative word... even in current games the 9600gt comes very close to the 8800gt in perfo...the 8800gt 256 mb loses to the 9600gt 512...
when the 86gt came out no one xpected it to do anything...initially it was even outclassed by 7600gt..but as drivers updates came in it even outclasses the 7900gs...dats why i say the 9600gt may equal the 8800gt in future ....

Still don't agree with this...The 8600GT was superior AFA hardware specs went. So drivers improved on its latent performance. How the hell are drivers supposed to make up for a difference of 48 SPs you tell me? If anything the gap will continue to grow after more DX10 titles release or even more shader intensive DX9 titles make their entry into the market. I feel you have your facts backwards on this one...

^^ Which shader heavy games you talking about ?

AFAIK almost all the games, the gap is very close. Stock performance 9600GT is a easy bet considering saving 50$

LOL 170 USD is just Rs 6800, now only if we were getting at those prices in India...

i think 9600gt makes a good buy if priced at around 8000 rs, anything higher than that makes buying 8800 gt more sense

If wishes were horses :P

Here, links -
X-bit labs - Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT: Worthy Rival to ATI Radeon HD 3000 (page 12)

STALKER, UT3, Company of Heroes = all shader intensive games. Ooh and Crysis - how could I forget?

why you guys are comparig 9600 GT with 8800 GT?? x6XX is a mainstream series and x8xx is performance series,,dont they???

G8x and G7x are totally different generations of GPU's ... But the 8800GT is based on a G92 , and the 9600GT on a G94 .. which are merely revisions apart and not generations .. do u really expect it to be so easy for the 9600GT to leap ahead , if even a slightest chance exists .. ??

hey guys...lets summerize dis case once n for all....plz supposrt me who r in favour of moi way of thinkin.....

.......yes 9600gt performs very close to 8800gt....but dosn beat it.....

AGREED-people who have 22" or more -need x8xx series gfx to play at higher setting in native resolutions//for rest (17" n 19")-9600 gt is enough-lets wait for price cum down 2 8k

Eventually the 9600GT will replace the 86xx line of products. So I do hope that it comes down on price in the next few months.

Hmm those results seem to differ a lil from other places, 9600GT easily outclasses the hd 3850, but here its a close call...

I doubt how many of us has hd 3850 in India--due to the poor marketing and pricing-AMD-ATI should learn from INTEL-Nvidia

^^ i heard some review about ati 3870 at driver version 8.2 they improve at crysis aveg fps 40 and max 50 fps at oc setting ;) uisng 1440x900

i think 8800gt is winning hands down. but here at nehru place, delhi no one seems to have gigabyte 8800gt (zalman cooler+OC). all they have is xfx and msi. where can i get gigabyte??

gigabyte 8800gt (zalman cooler+OC)

Also make sure u buy with the new rev cooler :)

Ask members in Blore/Mumbai to ship for u if possible :)

Btw if many members are interested I can arrange a GO for the Gigabyte 8800GT when I get back to Bangalore in 2 days :)

Pricing will be around 12k shipped if we can get 5-6 ppl
