Yeah, no orders can be placed on Aliexpress.
"We’re sorry to inform you that due to local conditions, the provision of services to your location is currently unavailable. We will provide further customer updates should the condition change. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused."

I guess we'll just have to wait when things become a bit normal then. Phooey!

i saw that chinese retailers are now selling on ebay at almost same prices as on aliexpress.
also i was checking alibaba website. talked to some wholesalers. they are ready to ship to india using hong kong as shipping port. high shipping prices for retail purchase.
I am thinking of trying ebay. delivery timings are same as on aliexpress with some having free shipping.

Chinese retailers have been shipping on eBay for a long time under Global Shipping. I purchased a few products from there during the lockdown last year when AliExpress stopped taking orders. Shipping is quite the same, either from Malaysia or Turkey.

However, the choice is significantly less and the price is a bit higher due to eBay's commission. On the positive side, they ship using tracking because of eBay's refund policies.

how much worth of items did you ordered. did customs cause any issue?

Nope, the most expensive item was about $30 but it passed through customs without issues. As is typical, they stated a lower price on the label.
The declared value was $30 or the actual value? I enquired from one of the ebay seller and he told me that due to Chinese holiday next shipping will be done after 18th Feb.

I ordered something from aliexpress in November and since early December, item has reached india but still not received. There is no way of tracking item post entering India.
Item price is $2 or so. I have lost all hopes of receiving the item. I asked postman once too and he denied having any small parcel for me.

Declared value was much less, otherwise it would have surely incurred custom duties. Once, when I had imported from US, they had made sure to apply it on a $28 item, so anything that breaches the INR 2k mark post-shipping is subject to the duties.

It is a hit or miss with untracked items. I received all my items in the space of a week in December. It is probably not a co-incidence that I had a 100% delivery rate following the Diwali "bakshish" whereas in the past it was about 60-80%.

What is the duty on items above 2k mark? I once saw across a chart on this thread which says it is 80% including GST and everything.

It doesn't go that high. People simply add all the tax rates which is not how tax works. The duties are applied incrementally on different heads. It depends on the category, but electronics can go up to 42-43%. However, expect rates to be around the vicinity of 30% in most cases.

Keep this as a reference.
Yes, I was talking about this. So does it mean that duty free limit is only RS 1000?
is it same all over india?
