thats why was inclined to pick them up.. but the desire to 55-250 and money shortage.. :( ...

its a really nice lens..

there is one 55-250 (6months old) being sold on bhp forum check it out the guy is ready to negotiate these lens are being sold for ~9.5k on smartshoppers so i think you can get these lens for around 7.5k which would make them an awesome buy

by the way i gave up half of my last month's incentive to buy these lens :(

how come smartshopper is offering tamron 90mm at such low price compared to others that too with manufacturer warranty ?

is this smuggled goods or what ? ;)

Just a query, at a budget of 25k is it fine if you go for the Nikon D3000 or is it better to wait for the Nikon D3100.
D3100 will not be coming in for 25k (at beginning)
{assuming that u r talking with bill}

The D3100 is being sold for $699 abroad. Even the grey market price will not be less than 32 - 33k with lens.

wonder when the sony NEX 3/5 will start selling here in india. importing almost doubles up the cost.
NEX3 is available in ebay, the price at 35k is obviously way high for a grey piece ,even officially i doubt it will be priced that high.Since the MSRP of NEX 3 is $550 which is cheaper then the olympus EPL-1 MSRP $599 in india its MRP 29990.

A Sony A230 DSLR in ebay a grey market piece is priced at 19k.Its MSRP of $550(street price $450 ) while the official price from Sony india is MRP 26k,so the NEX3 shouldn't be priced more then MRP 26k officially with Sony india warranty.

So guys for a budget of 25k should I rather go for the D3000 seems D3100 is impossible. I am a noob at SLR's and this one will be my 1st.

Don't go with d3000 has you are new to dslr you will find hard to take pic from viewfinder

Go dslr which has live view option...

1000d is also good option, U can get it for 22k [might lower that that too...]

i find taking pictures via viewfinder easier and better than using the live view on my 500d and i am new to dslrs

Hi guys a lot time lurker on TE but my first post.

I am going to buy a new DSLR for myself and my father, my father would be needing a teleport lens as he likes bird watching this would be our first DSLR and hte reason I am willing to go the DSLR is for the image quality that its going to offer.

I have been using the sony DSC-H2 and very much like the quality of images that it produces (the images that it produces are just wow to say the least) and much better than the 2 smaller canon (ISUX 95) and sony cybershot (DSC with 3x soom point and shoot) that I have as far as I can say I just dont like the images produced by the canon and the smaller sony.

I have short listed the canon 1000D and the 500D for the DSLR are these a good choice, remember this is going to be my first DSLR I reason I choose cannon is that in the future the lens upgrade would be a bit cheaper, apart from the stock lens I would also have to buy the teleport 70-300mm lens for my dad waiting for your opinion guys.

Should I go for 1000D or 500D, coz I would not be buying a new body for at-least 5 years, also what rates should I expect the 500D I am based in Hyderabad so if you guys know any good shop it would be helpful.

I got the canon 1000D for 21k with stock lens 18-55mm IMHO its a pretty good camera for the price!

Played a lot with the same over the weekend got some great shots, but still miles to learn and figure out the various options offered by the camera............ will invest in another lens from the money saved in the next couple of weeks.

Where did you purchase from and what is the warranty?? post some pics ..

Hi Sumit I got the D1000 from Byas Photo Himayatnagar near liberty also purchased the 70-300mm tele lens for my dad last saturday for 11.8K

The stock lens 18-55mm is pretty good though its not IS, though I not a newbie I got some great snaps, will create a flickr account and post the pictures, Regarding the warranty its 1 year and after you register at canon website it goes upto 2 years as for the lens I think so its just 1 year.

I even manged to use the 75-300 lens without a tripod and shot some decent shots, but I guess for that lens a tripod is good option to get good shots.

Here are few on the snaps taken on our terrace garden, mostly there were taken in the afteroon with good sunshine, I used the stock lens 18-55mm on the Canon 1000D for these a few of them were taken with it was slightly raining in the late evening just after sun set but it was overcast so had to use the flash on those.
