News AMD Radeon 9000 series officially announced to go on sale in March 2025

This time around the pulse and the pure models will most likely be the ones to buy as the nitro one comes with the 16 pin connector with all the melting issues and it can consume about 430W so melting connectors on that model are a very big possibility.

The 9070 and 9070 XT reviews are here:

Round Up

30% better price to performance than 5070Ti

Guys if someone is willing to spend 75k (i personally believe it wont be cheaper than this for awhile ) for the 9070 xt just pony up a little more cash for the 7900 xtx, its a no brainer at 87k since it performs at par with a 4080 super out of the box and has more vram.

It is going to get cheaper just like the xtx did more people will still buy Nvidia and thus it will get cheaper. The xtx for a long time sold for almost as much as the 4080 at around 95k-1L. Right now sure go for the 4080. I would suggest 4080 over 7900XTX still since the price seems to be coming down , I saw one selling for 90k on Facebook. But after about 3 months after that stock dries up, the 9070 XT will be the best option.

Somewhat underwhelming looking at HUB review. RT performance is much worse than i thought. Even raster is 20% up rather than 40% vs GRE.
Its still good at 600$ but does not look like something to get market share, unless Nvidia just abandon the market like they currently have.
Good for people who need new gpus today, not very enticing for an upgrade imo if you dont have weak gpus.

I am not really interested, but i think 5070ti at 750$ is better than 9070xt at 600$. But 5070 is very poor, so there is that. I think AMD made same mistake again.
Lets see if Nvidia supplies, else they might gain some market.
Also 9060 series might be key as most people would have budget for that and that area is lacking serious effort from Nvidia.

I feel the same way too! Currently saving up for a brand new build (thinking of building around July-Aug)
If the 5070 Ti still remains overpriced by then, i will have no choice but to go with the 9070xt. I'm more curious to see how good FSR4 is compared to DLSS4

Well that's the catch it's not available anywhere at $750 in fact the prices have now gone up to $900. So really you should be comparing against that pricing rather than the crap that Nvidia fed us at the launch.

The supply situation is really bad and isn't going to get better anytime soon.
yeah, in summary market remains uninteresting and AMD aren't aggressive enough to gain market share and overstated their performance.
If Nvidia doesnt supply like now, then go for AMD.

We have a whole cluster of gpus around 3080-4080. Very slow progress.

That's the issue with the 5070 Ti. This is just a ghost, on-paper price. It's non-existent. It all depends on how well the 9070 series is available and at what price.
yeah yeah i know. If Nvidia doesnt supply, then there isnt much choice left.
Maybe AMD raised prices looking at that, lets see if this works for them.

I was rooting for this one, but it is underwhelming for me. Raster is maybe 35% faster than 3080. RT is 18% faster than 4070 which is slower than 3080 at 4k.
Hopefully FSR4 is better than DLSS3 or atleast matches it.

Even if i wanted to throw money, i dont see myself buying Nvidia gpus because of power issue. Best AMD has is this one, as last gen is weak on RT/upscaling.
This seems similar to GRE. Good for new buyers, questionable for 3000 series and beyond unless you need the VRAM.

Anyway ..

I heard somewhere the prices are going to jack up in the name of trade policies and will follow nvidia :/
Ideally, shouldn't affect Indian prices as tariffs is for Americans.

Lol I wish I had the 12 GB 3080
I am content with older games for now. Else at 4k will get some issues in some games.
Currently playing ME andromeda. Its fun with lowered expectations.

I could have bought 3080ti at 10% more, which was fair. Did not bother. Probably would have been better choice. But still its only 2gb, dunno.
Soon 12 wont be enough.

Should I stay with my RX 6800 XT
Only interesting if you need RT and/or upscaling. Price is not that great either at 70+.
I dont think RT is worth it yet, too many compromises + handful of games + often difference is subtle if raster was done well.
Maybe ok for 4090+ as you can get high refresh rates or play at 1440p/1080p.
Multiple bounce RT can look nice, but framerates tank. Not fun playing at low frame rates, and framgen doesnt cut it for that.

And this one's RT uplift, while good vs AMD - its still not great vs Nvidia.
So if you want RT, wait for 5070ti at 750$ or so.

Even upscaling would likely be better with DLSS4. i wouldnt bother if i had 6800xt, FSR quality at 4k is ok.
I have 3080, not gonna bother with this one. Was slightly tempted at 50% uplift, but this isn't that. 100% would be ideal for me.

Also I just realised that anyone who says that 7900XTX or 4080 offer "better value" at 87k or whatever price the 4080 is selling for than the 9070 XT which we know is currently selling for 71k is.... ahem.... Wait for it STUPID.

The 9070 XT even at the current jacked up price offers better value when compared with the 7900XTX and yes better value in raster cause the 9070 XT blows the 7900XTX out of the water when comparing RT, even at a lighter RT workload.

When comparing numbers from the HUB review the 9070 XT is 12% slower than the 7900XTX at 1440p and 10% slower at 4K while costing 20% less, and the 9070 XT come with
FSR 4 upscaling which is far better than FSR 3.1.

If anything, anyone planning to buy a GPU in this price range other than the 9070 XT go for for the 7900XT at 63k, it offers the same raster performance at 1440p and is 9% slower at 4k while being 10% cheaper than the 9070 XT. Don't go for the 7900XTX or the 4080 you don't need that 7900XT is plenty and with the saved 25k by not buying them you can upgrade your monitor for a better experience.

Either buy a 9070 XT or a 7900 XT, it is as simple as that.

Note: This is just a rant, if anyone is hurt or offended I am sorry.

Even though the performance we have seen right now is not exactly what AMD promised, it is far off it, but this is still pretty good, and honestly RT performance and FSR 4 are much better than I had expected.

After finally getting something decent and somewhat good and seeing people shitting on it was not exactly heartwarming to say the least.

Again I am sorry if I offended or hurt anyone.

fsr4 is exclusive to the new 9000 series as there is a hardware component to it. sad. :(
yeah, but this is such a big jump and crucial to image quality. Its a very very obvious need for these under powered devices.
Valve has to consider it for an updated device whenever amd comes up with a FSR4 compatible low powered chip.

Would definitely pick 9070xt over 7900xt if someone needs to buy. FSR 3 really breaks down at lower resolutions.
