Come-on chaos...get off his back!

lol...i was in bad mood at that time....... also its more of my lost if i stop asking..............and ill asked in my own lingo...whether somone gets it(or dont lik reading those)

where is hitachi service centre here in mumbai?????

lol...cant find any shortcut 4 abov lines...lol

I'm yet to get the quotation from my local dealer. Before he quotes a price which will give me a heart attack, I'll like to be ready with some alternatives to bring down the price. I'd of course like to do this without sacrificing much on performance or functionality.
One area where some savings could be done is the Cabinet. The VIP zb01 is for around 4.5K. Aren't there any good zebronics / techcom cabbys for around 2K? I've seen their websites, but as can be expected, there is no detailed information about number of drive bays, fan sizes, photos of interior, etc.
So, has anyone here used zebronics cabinets? Post your opinions please.
( english , hinglish, sms lingo, anything will do. We'll conduct the grammer classes some other time. :ohyeah: )

Well they're decent enough, but its hard to give a generalised statement on all of them since they have tons of models !

You'd be better off visiting your local dealer and looking at the models they have in stock and accordingly assessing whether the cabinet is large/roomy enough, has the right airflow, etc. Some of them are pretty useless, but in some cabinets it looks like the designers did use their brains and have implemented stuff like screwless PCI locking brackets and those kinda things. So its basically identifying whats right for you and picking it up.

There are some things that are wrongly designed in their cabbies but can be corrected easily. For example - on a friend's zebby cabinet, the side panel had two intake fans, but were placed to blow air outwards instead of into the cabinet. This was fixed by simply unscrewing the fans and reversing them.

i have a zebby cabby...doesnt look anything like it was when i bought it :ohyeah:

well, the transparent acrylic that came with mine was pathetic..got scratches even if i wiped it with a satin cloth..replaced oit with some good acrylic...

Ahhh I'm back and more thoroughly confused than before. :ohyeah: Major points are ....
17" lcd or 19" CRT
VIP zb01 or some equivalent Antec/Zebronics/Intex etc, or else a cheaper cabby.
Powersafe 450W or Antec SP2 450W....
LCD vs CRT debate pls continue in the thread I started.

About the cabby, saw a few cheap ones @ mnemonics. They had provision for front fan, but no opening of any kind on the front panel. Useless and stupid. i want good cooling, cause I'll have 3 HDDs and 1 optical to start with.
Quad, what made u choose antec over VIP?
Also, what about PSU? 3HDD, 1 optical, x850xt pe, 2gb twinmos, and 3000+ slightly OCed.

*bump*

Come-on guys, only 3 weeks left for me to buy my PC.

Is there any light-weight but spacious cabby under 4.5K ? I suppose the zb01 is very heavy, right?

well there arent too many good cabinets until you are ready to fork out some money.

As far as the front fan goes. the duct opens at the bottom of cabinet thats where the air comes in from.

As far as the light cabinet goes, again the aluminium cabinets will be light but those are not cheap. Rest all are steel or iron or combination. Which makes them heavy. Really there aint too many choices there.

Cheapers will be superlanboy around 5-5.5k

Antec slk series is another option but its not that light either.

As far as the PSU goes get atleast powersafe 450Watt. If you have 7-7.3K to fork out on PSy then get Antec TP 2.0 550.

If budget is around 4-4.5K then get SP 2 450.

May i address u as ZPD????????
late latif in action once more!!
Please chk my post in goldenfrag's lanboy thread- maybe some help!!
Also chk my post in muttster's config thread, see if its any help!!
And do chk my Final config post in my PC for dummy thread!!
Prices in that are as on 04-10-2005, cash purchase!!
Rates r not cheapest but almost there!!
Was supposed to buy from Mnemonics as Mr.Ashish there was searching for a 0517EPAW for me but he finally gave up and then prices on certain stuff were not satisfactorily low!! but very good and helpful and knowledgeable guy!! Got his reference straight from AMD mumbai guy bcoz of the nature of my query!!
Have a habit of backtracking to person who offered lowest rates first, irrespective of efforts reqd!!:P
On 10-09-2005, dealer in andheri had offered slightly better rates than lammy too, 2 pals got config immediately but mine postponed due to immediate hospitalisation!!:@
Went and picked most stuff from his lammy shop as i was sure he wud hav everything in stock there!! though he quoted slightly higher rates(50-100) this time, didn't hassle much as i can get replacement from his andheri shop and won't hav to go to lammy all the way- best of both- wot say??:hap2:
And rates hav been crawling up due to festive season!!:@
wasted some money borrowed from pals in travelling to lammy but wanted pc up and running and little exploited before i land in hospital for surgery!!
Will return when I am UP and RUNNING and land some job!!
Would have loved to shop from mnemonics as Mr.Ashish has been very courteous:hap2: - but wanted to chk product range personally before purchasing and travelling in frnds car to borivali on nonexistent roads is as good as going to lammy!! also his office is on 2ndfloor with no lift, thats a major problem considering me on cruches and severe mobility issues!! plus shops at lammy r at SEA level!!
But mnemonics had agreed to mobo and proc prices i got finally at!! if you get low enough rates and bargain, he might oblige on all stuff!!
Wait!!
i don't know how to post links but will post my rig at least!!:ashamed:
Posting final config in seperate post as this has gone too long!!
I TALK TOO MUCH, don't i!!:ashamed:

Thanks for the exhaustive reply, bikey. Well, I have to buy from mnemonics, ( its Anish not Ashish), as I'm going for a loan. So unfortunately I'll have to bear with the extra costs.
I saw the Ibox grabbit, but it has only 3 3.5" bays. I already have 3 HDDs, so everything would be very cramped and hot. Anish suggested buying convertors and putting 2 drives in the 5.25" bays. But there's no airflow over there, so he suggested adding HDD coolers. These things add to the cost by a couple of thousand, so I think it'll be better to add another 1k and just go for the zb01.

@funky, I saw the air holes in the bottom, but the case has hardly any ground clearance, not even 1". Didn't seem very efficient and confidence-inspiring.

Anish quoted 4800 for the Antec SP2 450W, with dual-rails. Would this be a worthy purchase compared to the Powersafe 450W?

Its really sad there aren't many choices available in computer hardware. The el-cheapo cabinets are around 1K ( or even lesser), while the good quality Antec etc start above 5K. Thats a very big gap in between.

I bought the grabit for my friend for 1250 with the Psu around 2 weeks back from lammy road.

Im also thinking of buying a new cabinet and i came across this http://www.kunhar.com/vipcabinets/gaming.html

Dont know the cost will get more info when i go back to mumbai. Does anyone know whats the cost of that cabinet. (without psu)

That looks very bad!!!
Also, sunny had a similar "gaming" cabinet from zebronics. The acrylic side panel was of very cheap quality, and was prone o scratches. He eventually had to change it with a better acrylic panel.
(well sunny likes to mod everything, so maybe he would have changed the panel anyway)
