anyone has any idea on roaming?

like if we go outstation, will EVDO work?

For BSNL roaming doesnt work.

TATA Photon while roaming only CDMA 1x will be available. The high speed access is only available in Chennai but they said within three months it will be available all over India as they are waiting for license or something.

And Check this out.
HSIA Router
Just plug your computer into the activated device through wired or wireless( Wi-Hi) connectivity and surf at never before speeds
They are referring Wi-Fi as Wi-Hi Zone. wtf
And the router is basically 3G Wireless Broadband Router.

Hehe :)

The guy who came to install, tested his own modem in which HSIA was activated. The signal strength was full but download speeds were around only 30-40kBps. :(

Even @ speedtest.net it showed only like 300kbps. :(

Freaky - Are you really getting 100-200 kBps??

@ freaky. Are you getting Public IP or Shared IP ?

Its not like the case of BSNL where all users are given the same IP. Its dynamic. In your terms, that means a Public IP ?

I got my HSIA activated yesterday.

The max download speed I got was 150kBps that too only if I keep the laptop at a certain location. In other areas the avg speed I am getting is ONLY 60-70kBps. :(

But overall I liked the service a lot. :D

I was asked for 4000/- @BSNL exchange as equipment charges ???

Did any EVDO users pay it ?? Am surprised that i never heard of it from anyone here ...:o
