Asus RT-N13U B1 - DD-wrt thread

got the router back today from RMA.
It's not even in a box.
Shouldn't they have changed the complete stuff & replaced it with a new box sealed piece?

it has dual WAN setup but I dont think you will find help on that here .. most are single line users.
 
N13 with DD WRT is lethal combo to download to*** , Thank you Dinjo for making this post useful & making people N13 crazy :)

Few questions.

  1. I had enabled telnet to install transmission etc & connect to putty for executing commands, now I dont need it. Telnet option is greyed out as enabled. I cant click on disable. Can anyone tell me how to disable it ?
  2. I have enabled ProFTP on port 21, Annon access is disabled & strong user ID & password are used, Is there anyway ISP or someone from Internet can access N13 using FTP ?
  3. How good is DD WRT firewall ?
  4. How to check what ports are open by DD WRT & if anyone can access N13 & even computer connected to it from ISP or internet ?
 
hi! i just finished flashing my rt-n13u b1 router to dd-wrt using the firmware in the router database in the dd-wrt website. I'm stuck at the putty thing. whenever i login to the putty command window, it says "Login Incorrect". What seems to be the problem?

Am out of town .. so cant answer question 1 .
for rest the answers are :
2. No , no one can access your FTP unless you port forward your FTP i.e. use this

3.Firewall is pretty good as far as i have used it . I have configured my adblock on the router and I have tested the firewall against few configs.
4.Cant say much on open ports @dinjo might be able to help on that , But unless you port forward till then no one have direct access to your files . But just out of curiosity why are you so paranoid about this? :P

yes. it seems my keyboard is angry at me LOL. anyways, i got it to work. now my problem is on the transmission daemon. after doing all the steps, i can't even access 192.168.1.1:9091. at first, there was a problem about settings.json telling me about a rcpc whitelist. then i tried entering all of the commands in putty and now, i can't access the 9091 address. even worse, when i try to display the settings.json, it gives all these

and so on. making settings.json edited 1/1.

i'm really confused about the transmission daemon part.

You have corrupted settings.json either re-create it using vi or just open filezilla in a notepad

ok i got transmission to work. i even get to open it with transmission gui and was able to download. now my problem is, i plan to turn off my router and pc so it can rest. but the time i plug it again, i cannot access the 192.168.1.1:9091. for this to work again, i have to redo the procedures in the transmission more importantly, edit again the settings.json because it keeps reverting back to the old contents.

and btw, can you teach me how to operate the QOS i plan to have internet browsing, FTP, transmission(torrent), video streaming to work in QOS. thanks
 
Hello everyone.. I'm planning to copy my existing optware plus transmission settings with files to another drive 'cause I'm going to upgrade my 150 gb to 250 gb.. with ext3 partition of course to the second drive.. is it possible? or I need to install again from the start thanks...

I faced the same. Remember user ID will be root. not the ID which you set in DD WRT,
Password will be same as router password.

Well, have used DD WRT just for sake of download & have no idea on other commands apart from what dinjo mentioned on this page.
Dont want to be in a mess where anyone from internet can access N13 & Laptop/desktop connected to it & copy everything. It may be personal or professional (no p*rn). I am sure no one would like to share their personal things.

Telnet check box is selected (dot inside the round box) & greyed out. I cant click on disabled box.

hey guys .... i need a favor ... a big favor .... i got reliance broadband connection & it need to sign in every 24 hours to use the service .... its very annoying ... i don't know if this is the right place to post this but ..... CAN I GET SOME SCRIPT OR SOMETHING TO AUTOMATE THIS LOGIN THING EVERY 24 hours ???

There is a workaround, search for the Hathway page on this same forum where it was mentioned.
