the fckrs cited feasibility issues at my apt. Said would refund me cash.
SO now a long wait to get back my 1500 bucks .

I sent them an email

I've been a Beam Internet user for about four months now. I was previously under the 128kbps unlimited plan, which was recently upgraded for free to 256kbps. This was a pleasant surprise, so I inquired for any additional plans that would interest me. I liked the B-Max 1500 Plan which was supposed to give me 4mbps of bandwidth with an unlimited transfer and without any FUP as per your

a. Customer care over phone. [SEVERAL TIMES, I even have phone conversations recorded]

b. Service person who I confirmed this with, while installation of my connection.

I've switched to that plan since the first of April. However since today(7th April 2010) morning, I have only been receiving only 1mbps of bandwidth and when I called up your customer care, they told me that an FUP of 25GB was applicable after which the speed would drop to 1mbps.

Now my concern is why the above has NEVER been mentioned to me prior to my committing to the new plan? Why is there absolutely NO mention of the 25GB limit FUP on your website? Why was I repeatedly lied to, despite me particularly asking several times about it?

I've tried several times to reach the senior officers through the customer care, but couldn't do so. Thereby am writing an email. I request you to remedy the situation at the earliest possible and also update your website and your customer service personnel. False advertising could entitle Beam Telecom to a lawsuit.

I never received a reply, but the problem sure got solved for all I care. =D

got my installation done today finally (after hundreds of phone calls to customer care and multiple other people personally, a long email to the nodal officer and many days of agonizing wait)...

The installation guy even had the gall to ask me for "service charges" aka bakhsheesh/inaam/chai-paani..

Start hasn't been too auspicious though as server went down for 3 hours just 2 minutes after installation was done.

Another thing I noted is that I get full 2 mbps speeds when i test it with servers within india but testing with servers outside it it comes to be very less.. Even downloading from most US sites (known/reliable ones with no bw limits like microsoft.com etc) caps out at anywhere between 10kBps to 50kBps... is this for everyone else or am i the only one facing this?

guys, I'm really frustrated now..It seems that the bandwidths given by beam are a farce. They are giving these bandwidths only within India and are capping "single-connectiongs" to outside india. Reasons which lead me to believe this:

1. All my speed test results for servers within India hover around 2 mbps but for any server outside India, I rarely get a result of more than 0.5 mbps (On my airtel 1mbps conn, i always used to get around 1 mbps everywhere)

2. If I download something from a site with a singly http connection (e.g. through browser's inbuilt downloader), the speeds are always around 10-20kBps but if I use multi-connections through a download manager or for torrents I get almost full speeds.

Now, for downloads this is not much of an issue but is creating a huge issue for streaming things. e.g. even youtube stutters and buffers a lot even on this so called 2mbps connection..

So, please can anyone else with beam connection try the above two things and let me know their results

Attaching my speedtest results for some different servers below:

In India

Chennai

Mumbai

Outside India

Pakistan

Australia

USA

y ru crying over those results??does these speedtest make any difference??Almost all sites i downloaded from ...i get download speed over 200kbps including rapidshare n megaupload...bdw even i get similar results on speedtest.net...

If u r not satisfied change ur broadband connection :)

^^ no, i'm not worried about the speedtest results, I did them only when I found issues with downloading. All my single connection downloads from abroad (even from my company's US servers with a huge ass bandwidth) seem to be limited.. If I use a multiple connections for download, I get full bw.
BTW, I tried this on 5 different laptops and all of them displayed same behaviour while on my old airtel connection and my friend's reliance connection, they give full bw even on single connections...

And I'm asking about this only because I am concerned if it is only me or is it like this for everyone. If it is only me then I'd try to get it rectified because the price is good, and if it is like this for everyone, then of course I'd change my connection because this is something unacceptable to me (especially because I need a lot of bandwidth over single connections for connecting to my company's remote computers).

well i currently have a 2mbps UL airtel and a 2mbps UL beam connection at home.

I mainly use torrents to download and i can tell you beam is much better in this case. Even if you download at 50kbps in airtel internet in browser doesn't work as torrents use too many connections, only solution is to limit the connections in torrent but that also reduces download speeds. In beam i can easily download at 200Kbps and still browse the net.

Airtel connection Chennai

will provide beam also

Crossed the 100GB mark and now its 1mbps again. These people are so fickle minded.

As for shantanugoel's theory, I agree that somethings been different since I've crossed that 70GB mark. My seeds list is flooded with local IPs rather than ones from abroad which is unusual, so unless the torrent I am downloading has a lot of local seeds, my download speeds were about 250ish while they normally should have been about 400. As for direct downloads, they are wavering a lot too, swinging from 200-400 literally ever other second.

^^ The thing is that I haven't crossed any limits even.. I have just started using the connection..(probably did around 2-3 GB max till now).

PS: BTW, where do you check the usage? The online portal shows no data found always for me. Do you use a local meter on your PC?

Got the installation done mins ago, professionally done install, i was thinking they are still run by the bhaiya types

am on the 786kbps plan, will probably upgrade to a faster plan after using this for a while, so far so good, also tipped the guy generously as he had to wait for 3 hrs for me to come and I kind of believe keeping the employee happy keeps the employer happy :P

ok one question to you rave...why is it that some isp have lower pings in the cs servers in india then others...if there is a reason, can i not go and ask my isp to do the same...i am guessing some hops will be different in there route, but is the isp free to choose different hops? will they do it on our advise?

Does anyone know how to setup auto-login for beam cable through PPPoE? I tried doing it by using the same username/pwd that i use for web login and it doesn't work..

here is mine....these Beam people are damn fricking...... they decreased my speed from 2 Mbps to merely 786 Kbps..... i only use 27.4 GB.... gotta handle these guyz will contact them today.
