Now I think I replied to the same query. Does the value of the Video Card/GPU appreciate with Time ? I hope you know Gold is also used for making currency, Hope you have heard about Gold Standard. The gold standard is a monetary system where a country's currency or paper money has a value directly linked to gold.

So this comparison is not a good one. You cannot compare the Value of Gold/Property with a GPU. Why because there is a newer version of GPU coming every year. There is no new version of Gold or Property being launched every year or 18 months. That is the reason that this reason does not holds up. For Gold, you can always polish, melt it and make another ornament, can you do that with a GPU ?

:p:p
Gold has its value due to the scarcity of it. Had gold is available in crores of tonnes in many countries, it would price just like another metal(ex.steel)

As more gold is mined and sold, the demand increases. When I say demand increases, it means countries/ ornament makers are willing to pay more for it and buy it. The increased cost is passed on to the consumers. The consumer ultimately decides whether he is ok with the price or not thereby confirming or denying the demand by buying or not buying at the increased cost.

so GPU or even perishable goods when they are in shortage due to scalping/ hoarding/ semi conductor shortage, etc., the increased price is confirmed by consumers. Again the consumers could be miners for whom it’s a matter of time when they get the return on the initial cost they spend.

the high price is not acceptable for lot of gamers/ consumers who need it for consumption and not getting any return out of it which is unfortunate. at the End it call comes to affordability. our rant is not gonna change much.

Thanks to this "relaxation for GPU chai pe charcha" slowly every for sale thread is getting filled up with non sale related replies. Do we allow it? Where do we draw the line? I've succumbed to it too at times and many times have thought of asking random questions (about the product on sale)

I think it is okay. The threat gets free bumps. It is an open forum. At any rate, no matter what one does, there's someone who's going to be unhappy about it. So, better learn the secret to happiness, and be a Stoic (with a capital S).

Totally off-topic. Is there a way to filter "For Sale" posts from "New Posts"?
I think you can ignore specific sub forums using the “ignore” option. Go to ”Classifieds” and then click on ignore button on top right of window, see if that works.

I've been observing the behavior of the mods for a while and I think that this needs to be said,

internet mods.jpg

like holy shit some of you act like you are all-high and mighty righteous saints!

Are the activities mostly in the classified section?
No, no!! Some mods are really active in closing threads (on things like your gratitude list!!) when some spineless members don't have the balls to deal with the person but quietly report a completely harmless thread ( which can make someone a better person) to some mod, and that particular mod never bother to reply to any DM ( BTW that spineless creature is grateful to his local whores for a good head!! And that post with exactly this language was allowed, however posts related to recovery from substance abuse deemed too risky for the community!!)

Maybe create a new thread to criticize mods and forum policies? Because this is sure to get closed if it goes down that road and probably not what the OP intended to discuss when starting this thread.

Regardless, on topic, I don't like b*#ching about people behind their backs in general, so the least we can do is show them (new users) the way and move on. And ignore/avoid dealing with them in the future. We can't help it sometimes since it's the Internet. Or maybe I haven't experienced what you guys have.

Totally agree, maturity n respect is lacking nowadays. I used to love the forum. But now I don't post much. Unless I gotta sell something. And that's kinda sad.
No benchmarking competition, no "katmandude", no more love for OC....give aways or mods n build logs....
All I see is RGB....

I agree about maturity, Once I was dealing on OLX and the other guy keep addressing me like I am some 18yr old kid and finally when we shared numbers he was scared listening my voice on phone, He couldn't even make a good argument while he pretended so knowledgeable on chat ;)

the anonymity you get sitting behind a PC/phone on the internet across various platforms - without your identification, is what drives a lot of people into arguing, sharing stuffs, general garbaging about anything or everything - armchair experts more like.

it's when they are confronted with reality and the real people that they are back to their true self. it happens a lot, especially now when we witness absolutely everyone with a phone with unlimited net access, everyone a youtuber, ig'er and so on..

the advent of so many platforms, forums, access all around (internet) has definitely brought the world closer as a unit, however, it has distanced individuals from each other.

there are so many young lads on olx these days it's hilarious and frightening at the same time!

When you don't have the seller's phone number and you have given yours and he/ she doesn't call you like any normal human being, something is definitely wrong...not necessarily with buy/ selling stuff..in any resolution of conflict/ confusion.
Anyone who doesn't want to spend 2 minutes over phone, yet can write sitting behind a computer.... something somewhere is very wrong.

Even the mods lack those qualities. Won't go into details, but I still like some members in TE like fellow audiophiles Nitendra, Nalin, TheCoolerPlayer and some more.
But from now on I'm also not going to post much ( after being accused of bluffing , that too over a headphone collection picture!!...I've posted many pictures of my entire headphone collection @ head fi with over 50 headphones)

Each month end I bump this post having experienced a few instances of people who I have messaged (either replies to my FS posts or to their WTB threads) and they have not had the basic human decency to acknowledge my message.

Well, some day the tables may turn and I may have a deal you need, and you know what they say about Karma :p

Enjoy the weekend, all!
