Is that a standard norm with phones now.

Have you tried nexus 4 ? :P the glass back used to heat up so quickly and that to too much. :P I say that's normal. every phone get's headted up especially on gaming. I have no idea about apple products.

I have used 4s and that too gets heated in iron man 3 game. But as far as the case of Nexus 5 is concerned I have been playing dead trigger, gt racing 2, asphalt 8, D Day and many other games. And it just gets warm not heated as is the case of 4s, GS4 and others.

I am playing the same games + FIFA 14, pop, pv2 and vicecity. It can't be called warm... it does get's heated up. though afaik it's normal.

Don't know if the case let's me feel it less heated or I have become habitual of it as my Xperia SL and GS4 used to get heated too much.
But heating is normal thing as you are using a quad core processor which will dissipate heat and phones don't have aftermarket coolers

need help , how do u connect your n5 with PC , whenever u plug via usb cable , it prompts MTP & PTP .

as per xda guide installed driver for n5 , even device manager shows driver installed but it doesn't shows up as any drive or something .

Is it just me or the battery is really bad. I mean its 2:16 in the afternoon and the battery is already on 44%. Have put it back on charging. What could be the issue for it to be draining so fast. Also how much time does it take for the N5 battery to completely stabilise.

few users online reported it should take 1 week to stabilize.

but it doesn't drain as fast like other (samsung - to be precise )

Is there any online review where they have done a comprehensive battery life test? The battery is the only aspect that is holding me back. More inclined towards the G2.

I can clearly say battery life has been much better than what I expected and easily more juice than Nexus4...
i have rooted and installes a custom kernel..
20-30% better than what used to get on my N4 which also had a custom rom...

This worked for me:
  1. Download the Nexus 5 Drivers from here:
  2. Extract the zip contents and place all files in a single folder on your desktop.
  3. Connect your device to your computer.
  4. Launch the Device Manager on your PC.
  5. Now you should see the Nexus 5 listed in the hardware list.
  6. Right-click the ‘Nexus 5′ line and then click on Update Driver Software.
  7. Next, click the ‘browse my computer’ option.
  8. In the new window click on ‘Browse…’ button.
  9. Go to folder unzipped at step 2. Select the folder where you extract the USB Drivers. Click Next.
    • make sure to tick the subfolder box too.
  10. Now, the Windows installer will search for Nexus 5 drivers, click Install when asked for permission.
  11. Wait for the process to complete and then check the Device Manager list to confirm that the installation

Make sure you have USB debugging enabled. If it's already enabled try following
In device manager, does it list your nexus 5 under Portable devices or Android. My guess is it lists it under Android.
What does it say below N5 in device manager? If it shows something like "Android ADB intereface", try following
  1. Right-click the Nexus 5 in device manager and then click on Update Driver Software.
  2. Next, click the 'browse my computer' option.
  3. In the new window click on "Let me pick from a list of devices....".
  4. In the next window select "MTP USB Device" and click Next to install.

One noob question........

Is there a software to install on PC like Samsung Kies???

How do I backup contacts or take full backup??

There is no such software made by Google but you can always use third party applications which do work and that too brilliantly. One which I use most is airdroid.
But i will list more here:-
1. AirDroid
2. SnapPea
3. Wondershare manager (paid)

The best is airdroid.
Also you can use adb tool from Android sdk for a full data backup of android devices with 4.0+.

Yes perfect... this should surely work..
i remember doing this on my other laptop..

after the last step mentioned above.. disconnect and re connect the device and it will automatically pick correct driver's this time..

great thread guys..!
I am getting my Nexus White 32GB in a couple of days and i'm somehow not so excited! I have been an iOS user since the original iPhone came out and wondering if I will like the Android platform. I am in two minds about selling my boxed Nexus phone or giving it to my wife and buying the iPhone 5S from the US when I am there later this month.
Any other long time iOS users who have taken the Android plunge? any other thoughts/suggestions to convince me one way or other?

Bought Black 32gb nexus @ 33k locally

Only issue is power button rattling when the phone is shaken (i am ok with it) , will find good case to overcome the sound ;)

Its blazing fast :) :D

There is an update coming out already. Wow... What else have they fixed... Maybe the broken hangouts app
