Some Thanksgiving for me here -__- If I was in Mumbai right now I would be out there donating blood. I have relatives in Mumbai that my family is talking to right now and they will be going to donate blood.
As for the Pakistan topic, whatever guys, I just think something drastic needs to be done. If not blast them, tighten up the security, and I have no clue how India should even begin here. Terrorists attacks like this is not good for the country overall. See the canceled cricket tours.

We heard a lot of the gun firing and my building shook with some of the blasts. The blasts were very loud.
Well, last night, I was at Chowpatty (Where the terrorists in Skoda were gunned down later at night) almost at the location where they were gunned down when I got Bikey's call (10:20 approx). At that point of time, it was surprising to see police there in more numbers than usual, but there was no barricade. Headed back home after eating Kulfi there, not from Marine Drive though - had crossed Oberoi around 10:00, crossed Marine Lines and went to Fountain to drop an HSBC cheque. When Bikey called, I thought it was some one off incident of an overtly drunk dude, who lost his mind and let out a few gun shots inside Leopold. Unfortunately, thats not the case. Its simply sad to see that these terrorists targetted areas which were prime spots for tourists.
While at Fountain depositing a cheque at HSBC, the security guards inside got a call and they said that there have been attacks at VT and Taj as well and speculated that its the same person, while inside my dad heard what could be called as an explosion. I guess it was the one at VT, it sounded more like a loud thud or an accident or something. About 5 mins later, I was crossing Cooperage and heard a more diminished sound similar to the one heard earlier, but since others in the car didnt hear it, I thought it must be my imagination.
By the time I got home around 11:00 the situation had exponentially multiplied. The Nariman house in Colaba is almost next to a friend's place - who works in Banglore now, his parents are in their house next to the petrol pump shown in the videos on TV. I havent got the latest update yet.
Arun_rulezz, was around VT last night when the firing started out there. I spoke to him and he did hear gunshots. Naturally he was shaken up.
RIP all those who passed away in this encounter and my prayers are with the families and kin of those who are still held hostage.
As far as how they got in is concerned, Taj area is known for notorious activities at night. However, if you were a part of a security team at Taj, imagine working this one up, a group of people armed to the brim just appear out of nowhere. How much time do you think you would have to react? Microseconds? With the ammunition they were carrying - ak47's and Grenades???!! Do you think that well trained terrorists with such sort of ammunition are a match for people with possibly pistols and rifles? The pace, their spread out tactics etc. made it nearly impossible for the Police to think much about their action, before they can get a clear situation about one place, the next place is hit!!
Media coverage is essential, but it also causes damage. Imagine you are a one in a group of terrorists and the task assigned to you is to watch news channels, you get almost a live feed of whats happening or going to happen, you get to prepare yourself. Whats needed in such a situation is a media blackout. They should cooperate. Once the operation is done, give them all the damn masala they want to show on TV!!!
