BSNL 3G Thread

There is a way to recharge online through BSNL website for data recharges but you can also go to any roadside shop / Kirana / Medical shop who usually does BSNL recharge (through their phones) and tell them make a RECHARGE of XXX rupees (whatever amount you want to do that is).

It is very very important you tell that guy to do a recharge and NOT A TOP-UP.

Bump to this query! I am in the same boat. :(

Guys, my 3G plan also expires in 2 weeks:(

Any new unlimited plans available for less than 1k?
So is the iPad 999UL plan inexistent now? If nothing works, I might have to sell the Huawei E122 USB modem and switch to EVDO.

^ The iPad plan is available but for that you need to get a new special iPad sim. Some CSCs ask you to show them the iPad and they might also lock the SIM to the iPad's IMEI. Further it is not truly UL, there is a 10 or 15 GB limit.

Shites. I think I'd switch to EVDO then. Just don't want to go with a wired connection now. After having used the 3G for almost 6 months. :(

Need to source a good EVDO modem next.

What ??? This is really really bad and yes i remember even MTNL Mumbai has this roaming charges for usage on BSNL network (EDGE, 3G everything) :@

So 3G party seems to get over for everyone now. Mine is on 17th July 2011. Just hope that i get some "opportunity" (if you are in IT you know what it means :P) and then i can sell of my BSNL 3G SIM here :P

So I just went to the BSNL CSC in Cochin to inquire about EVDO and the lady over there said they got some new circular *today* regarding some new unlimited 3G plan aka the iPad plan. So I asked her if there is any limit and she said it's truly UL. Didn't believe it so asked her to confirm. After talking to few others she confirms its UL. Next I directly told her that I don't intend to use it with an iPad. For the iPad plan they will issue only a micro Sim and I am free to use it on whichever device I want.

But since its supposedly a new plan they didn't have micro Sim stock. Asked me to go to another CSC. Filled up the form, paid Rs 100 and now I have the iPad micro sim! :-D It comes with 1 GB data usage per month for the next 6 months as well. So will try it tonight once the sim is activated and after that will do the Rs 999 recharge!

Perfect timing for you and bad timing for me (holz). Any idea if its available in kozhikode??

If it is i will send my friend to get a sim for me.

Anyone knows whether the iPad offer is available in AP, anyone from hyderabad??

^ It should be available, only option is to go and check. :P

Anyway my SIM is registering to network and incoming calls are fine. *123# shows the plan as "3G-IPAD" but main account balance is zero. Data is working but speeds are limited to 128kbps / 64kbps. After each data session, it displays the total data transfer and cost (Seems to be charging @ 2ps / 10KB). But the account balance remains the same ie 0

So it might be cause the SIM is not fully active. I am going towards the CSC area tomorrow anyway so will check with them if there is no change.

^ No I don't think it will work. Both the CSCs I went today said the same. The normal 3G data packs do not work on the iPad plan so the opposite won't work as well.

Anyway what's wrong is trying? :P Try and report back. ;) :P

Rs. 99 right? 6GB as well. Not bad. Will check once the plan expires.

varkey, help me out with a EVDO modem please. I'll enquire from the BSNL CC what is being offered here. Medpal has EVDO as well. :)

Ya after the plan expires try the Rs 99 or Rs 999 recharge, you'll need to pay only if the recharge is successful right. Or just get an iPad sim. :P

About EVDO, will send a PM shortly. :)

Is there a grace period for the UL4200 connection? :ashamed: I wish it could last me for a week more.

Wouldn't the CC aunties ask for the iPad? Some members here reported these guys registering the IMEI number of the iPad! :O

^ Well, no grace period at all. My plan expired exactly 180 days after I recharged.

That was me itself I believe? :P Anyway that was what I read in other forums.

Atleast in Cochin no issues like that, infact I told them directly that I don't have an iPad and I am planning to use it on my data card. :P

Ok if this is true then its gr8 news bcoz as per MTNL 3G FAQ:

How will I get 3G access if I am outside home network?
You can access 3G services through BSNL`s 3G Network while roaming outside home network

MTNL 3G FAQ

BTW 750 per month is after paying Rs.4500 upfront in adv for 6 months else its Rs.1650 per month
