Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

I don't wanna make fun/wise ass comments or laugh/cry or feel depressed about the commonwealth games. I just want the games to happen and that to successfully and for that I am willing to work 24/7 without money. I love my country and I believe we can make it happen.

One person i would like to see joining the project at this point of time is Mr. E.Shreedharan. That man is a genius.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

^^ makes sense to the point. But with a person like that in command how will the politicians get a slice of the cake. For some reason i feel all this wouldn stop here. They are all greedy and irrespective of the embarrassment they wouldn mind going for a second helping if they can.

they do not take it seriously. by the time the elections come you will forget about the commonwealth games since by then they will give enough topics to talk to disgust you.

and many people like us do not vote, so by the time the election comes all they have to do is bribe the poor to get their next government in place.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

Its almost as if the world will move ahead and India will be the same at least for the next 100 years.

They say progress, what progress when you keep on disgracing the country every time.

Its like they do a 100 bad things and 1 good thing and say we are all still doing well.

All politicians are corrupt. Who can you elect? No one according to me. My next vote is going to no party. These idiots don't deserve a thing from us.

I'm not surprised that I'm so disgusted that I want to leave now.

And we also have gotten used to the attitude "SAB CHALTA HAI"
Not even 1% of the total youth if asked whether they would like to pursue a career in politics will say yes. If the literate wont contest elections, someone other than them will.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

In the current situation, who would want to go to politics?

You think you would want to or I would want to?

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

i am not judging but i have seen that people tend to dislike newcomers in politics and prefer candidates whose fathers/relatives were in politics.

they still have not evolved from the early days of Rajas and maharajas where a heir was an automatic choice to the throne (this case the constituency).

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

The system sure as hell hasn't evolved. I would surely vote for a literate who can actually prove to me he is not in it for the money and is for the people, but at the same time has excellent leadership skills.

But that is a big ask and how does it matter as its always BJP and Congress, what can an independent do when he does not have the seats in LS or RS or State Assembly. He would be crushed.

BTW why not be in it for the money? This is a career path and people work for many things including the pay.

The BJP and Congress also started from zero, although it will be quite difficult to survive and may take years to have atleast a reasonable share of power, its not impossible with sufficient determination :)

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

^+1, current politics does not encourage people(politicians) to be fearful of the consequences. i hope for once people should vote the other candidate(collectively) just to prove their voting power and to give the bigger parties a shock treatment so they are kept on their toes.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

That is true. By money I meant corrupt. Get the salary and perks but thats it. Nothing under the table.

We are the voters after all, but this country is divided at so many levels. Caste, religion, wealth, education. I dont see the equality.

I mean we have people here fighting to make their caste a SC just to get the benefits out of it.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

What i still dont understand is that why do Countries need to stick to something which is related to the colonial past.

Just to sit and keep licking the UK's ego medallion so that it can keep shining forever ??

And oh Btw, just wait for the corruption charges to be filed.

Then the sorry a$$ politician will go soft again and keep deferring the verdict for years to come and then plead leniency by citing Old Age.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

I shouldn't say like this but at this moment I really feel shame to be a part of this nation. They have now started blaming the weather.Everyone knows the weather In Delhi is not good but what the Government was doing from 2003.Just 10 days left what good can we hope now.

.
none of the politicians care for that

of the entire history of independent india do you remember any politician being punished for corruption charges or proven guilty by the apex court ?

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

Damn!! I hope to leave this country for good!!

Freaking our home country looting its own citizens!!! Death to corruption and ALL politicians!

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

Can't believe how much disgrace that the canada investigation of the games have brought. Cancel the games i say FFS.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

on a second opinion...its somewhat good for India, as there is not much of competition in CWG with foreign athletes pulling out and Indian athletes will get more than the projected quota of medals :)

Probably the wisest saying yet :P

As for the stadia -

Im sure they'd start collapsing once the games are over - legacy planning ? who gives a s**t ? :|

As for the OC-

They wont give a rat's a** of whats going to happen after the games - more like - "is baar hua , next time nhi hogi"

Verdict -

As someone said before - EPIC FAIL

Observation -

114% over budgeted - never has this happened anywhere in the world , suresh kalmadi is a rich man.

Inference -

CW 10' - India tops the medal tally - yes , even the africans pulled out

Precautions-

Dont try this in your country - you can spend 70k Cr. in a better way

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

actually all this happened during our asiad games , same budget overshooting , same last bit drama but it was indra gandhi's pet project and so it went off without not much trouble , it is a fascinating read on how we have never changed
