Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

I hope the athletes keep delaying their departure and CWG gets postponed, until things start to look right. It would be a shame otherwise. :|

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

Its already a shame for us we can just hope that things goes wright. We dont want the best CWG in the world but atleast a good CWG which can save the nose of every Indians.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

This is what happens when you give undue attention to a sport (cricket) in which the nation cannot even come 1st among 8 other competing nations and ignore all other sports. I just hope someone realizes that cricketers have been taking us for a ride for too long now and start encouraging other sports. Jai Hind.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

Next year we are supposed to host the most glamourous sport of them all - Formula 1 -- let's see if it turns out to be a greater disgrace than the CWG has been for us! I am betting the cars will be held up by some stray cow crossing the race track!

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

No you missed it sunny there will be speed breakers on the road and some pot holes here and there and not to miss the city's local corporation might have dig for laying some cable as well .

Highly unlikely !!

Unlike CWG, its not government managed. Private companies are pouring in lots of money into this, and they'll make sure it turns out to be a success.

Plus they are accountable to big daddy Ecclestone and the FIA. Ecclestone is famous for having his way with races being staged at a particular venue or not, after all he controls the rights to it.

i heard that the race track is ready and operational its just setting the other parts of infra right . this wont be a problem.

anything which is not under government control will happen smoothly in india.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

i can predict what will happen at the end of the race -- ministers , police ,everyone will crowd on the podium!! the drivers will be pushed out of sight! the pit girls will be termed as immoral! then we will have a long and boring speech by some minister claiming we are a super power, etc etc . i bet it's going to be some minister who will wave the checkered flag at the end of the race!

No no, the sports Illustrated calender

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

the moral police would rather they wear saris or salwar kameez - they would take bernie to the high court and make arrests based on counts of indecent exposure and what not - all the amazing things our netas can cook up. anyways let's leave that for 2011. we've got the CWG now to amuse/ashame us! let's take it one sporting debacle at a time!!

Sorry to disappoint you, but it's Kalmadi who's bringing F1 to India. You might know that JPSK Sports Pvt Ltd is building the track. Here are the owners:

JPSK is owned by Jaiprakash Associates (74%), Sumeer Kalmadi (son of Suresh Kalmadi, IOA president) owned Sulba Realty Private Limited (13%) and Delhi based Trackwork International Pvt Ltd (13%). The 'SK' in JPSK is a reference to Sumeer Kalmadi.

What i meant was Mallya being the head of FMSCI, things wont be as bad as CWG Organizing Committee.

SK is a stakeholder for sure, hell even SK signed the agreement with Bernie for bringing F1 here into India. But trust me, Jaypee guys and all the others have a lot at stake, their own money.

Not like CWG, where its public money.
