Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

Dunno about you guys but I don't think any olympics or world cup or any sports even has entertained me so much; and it hasn't even begun yet

Ofcource it ll go smoothly.
The Gujjar population will do its bit to ogle at the girls and mouth obscenities.

Having been studied in Greater Noida, the Gujjars are no good and same goes for Mayawati. In the carnage she calls as upliftment and emancipation of the lower caste, she has not taken into the account the stage called as evolving.
Gujjars got so much money they have 2 mercs in their stable along with Buffaloes and when they go out they treat the Mercs as tractor trollies.
Dressed in white shirt, white pants and white shoes.. they are quite a sight scratching themselves everywhere in the malls.

Let's hope i dont have to see them working in full force to scuttle the good work (if any) by this IOA.
If such assholes who ogle and mouth obscenities at girls are caught in Mumbai, they will get a thrashing of their life. Delhi is a dangerous place for girls or any sane human being.

^^^Raj thackrey won't let them in!

This whole CWG affair should've been handled by some private professional group. Atleast it would've saved whatever was left of our national pride.

What does he write that's not been written before? Its just ---> copy + add masala + add emotional angle + paste = Chetan Bhagat (TM) article.
Everyone is familiar with the aam admi's rants. But when a well known person or a celebrity writes about it, it does create a difference because they are someone's role models.

I agree. The only column in Editorial where you can really relate to your problems is Chetan bhagat's. Call him whatever you want but atleast someone is writing the real thing in Editorial column. The other columns are important and good too but they feel distant.

Hey lets not get derailed from our discussion. We are discussing Common wealth not chetan bhagat.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

We need a break from constantly talking about the mess that is CWG!! A distraction is a welcome break -it re energizes you for the main discussion and the distraction here is Chetan Bhagat for the moment!

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

Some big private company should have been given the responsibility of the games. They could have given them a specific budget and a specific deadline (i.e. Not just days before the actual games begin, atleast a gap of 5-6 months should have been kept between the completion of all construction work and the games) and there should have been a committee by the government to oversee the progress and see to it that deadlines are met and fines should have been imposed if the institution failed to do so.

Another thing, I just do not understand why everyone wants these games to be the best, and why are they even expecting such an outcome from India. In 1980s, the economic boom was not present and we were an underdeveloped nation, we organized the Asian games with a budget of a mere 52 crore but now in 2010 we suddenly realize that we are an economic superpower so we go on and spend a hefty 70k crore or USD15 billion while we do not realize that 700 million people in this nation live with an income of 20 rupees or less per day and we are removing all the beggars from the streets just so that the "white folk" do not stereotype us any longer?

Such a huge spending is unreasonable to me, whereas this money could have been used for humanitarian purposes specially in a nation with so much poverty and illiteracy. People are dieing of hunger and we have no food for them, but just to keep the westerners happy we spend 15 billion? The realization that a nation like ours spending 15 billion like this is unjustifiable is what is missing amongst us.

The thing that amazes me is that keeping the huge unnecessary spending aside, the CWG venues are still not up to the mark.

^ I totally agree. Don't kill me for saying this. But, I feel even cricket is a total waste of time, money, energy, natural resources....:)

Cricket is a good sport but it is hyped beyond a point in our country. The corporates have created a eco-system around cricket so that they don't have to channel their money elsewhere to promote their brands. Now that it has become a big money spinner, even politicians have started investing in this game.

Even Gods have become biggest money makers for people out there. Look at the annual incomes of big temples across India.

You will find temples are coming at large rate in any area coz they make large money.

Same things happened to simple festivals like Dahihandi, Ganeshutsav etc in Mumbai. These festivals are no longer festivals. They have become big money spinners for local corporators, politicians etc.

Our countrymen are like sheep, they can be driven anywhere by hype. And where big money starts to get involved, there comes corruption and politics. The purpose for which an event was started gets lost.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

After all this is over, people will forget what happened. Cricket will be the greatest sport for everyone which is not even played by 10% of the countries. Polticians will still be corrupt. People will still keep on seeing the same bollywood movies with a different dress. The road will still have pot holes. Poor will get poorer. Middle class will return to office. Rich will get richer.

Why? Because this is how India works

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

CWG should ideally stand for Congress's Wealth Gains!

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

We might as well focus on completing the F1 track unless we want to embarrass ourselves again. When they showed construction work at the F1 site in India on Star Sports all I saw was an old woman sitting in the middle of nowhere breaking rocks. Ofcourse in a later show when Karun Chandok was giving a guided tour things looked a little more promising but it still needs a lot of work to complete it in a years time. I hope the constructors don't do a shoddy job else we might have to repair the track after each session.

Re: These common wealth are such a disgrace

I Sincerely hope Kalmadi goes AWOL ! :|

Gill / Aiyar / VK Singh should take his place - Things might just get a bit better

Bloody fraudsters kalmadi and banhot are playing to the tune of sonia - she needs party funds - she tells Manmohan to st7u and manmohan does that ...its a bloody sham..
