Health & Fitness Corona is in full swing and its not Joke !

I don't blame people. Asking family members 30-40k for crematorium services, especially those who are daily wage earners, lost their livelihood during pandemic is just too much for them. Better to dispose corpses where it's inexpensive.
and what about contamination then ?

@red dragon our local area committee have been requested by the govt to send some volunteers for covid related purposes and I'm amongst some who have been named to take part it in (which I can deny of course). What precautions should one take? You are there in the frontline so I thought it would be best to directly ask someone in the know. I think the volunteers will be tasked to assist the health care personnel all over.
A proper N95 mask and a face shield if possible.
Don't rely on alcohol hand rubs completely, wash your hands with soap whenever possible.
Avoid footwear with laces, buttoned down shirts, they can get really messy if you have to put on PPE. Carry a bottle of drinking water everywhere.

The sheer number of bodies found floating (71 at first and then another 45 the next day) indicates that this was some sort of mass dumping of bodies by either a local civic body or a hospital. Either they are trying to reduce the number of reported deaths or cutting corners w.r.t. last rites. Chances are the bodies will be of poor people with no next of kin. Whats doubly sad about this is I remember the Army providing proper last rites for the unclaimed bodies of pakistani soldiers after Kargil.

This covid really exposes us how much we care for "Death with dignity" just to satisfy some people's order of fudging with the death toll and showcasing India as a "shining star in a room full of darkness."

Well, we do care about "India" being associated with a name because at the end of the day, image management matters more than reality.

It feels like this epidemic in India will never end..have stopped reading/ watching news completely...watching people die is nothing new to us, but now it's like mosquitoes dying...family members are bringing in gasping patients in 30s/40s in the yellow taxis..admitted 26 patients yesterday despite not having a single bed, they are lying on bare floor as we have run out of mattresses, bedsheets...we only have 272 oxygen lines outside the 19 critical care beds ( just iron cots with 2 rods to prop the patient up) there are more than 310 patients ( just couldn't refuse these absolutely helpless people).
Never in my life I had to ration oxygen between gasping people.
I usually hang around the hospital even after my shift ends, but here, I'm literally running away from all the madness at the earliest opportunity.
Even one of my colleague was feeling sick since last night. His heart rate was above 140. Now his BP is dropping, with a PEEP of 14 in ventilator his ABG is really really bad.
We usually don't talk about ourselves while on assignments. All of us were vaccinated months ago and I don't know what I'm going to tell his wife tonight.

Stay strong @red dragon ... This is one nightmare which refuses to end and even dropping hints that it is going to be back with more vengeance.
As they say, if you handle, survive any disaster in India, you can deal with any disaster in anywhere in the world.
https://www.amazon.in/Dummy-July-Ju...?dchild=1&keywords=n95&qid=1620823034&sr=8-16 , i have been using this, genuine n95 made in India, All staff at Fortis Hospital also use this.
Can you share your feedback if you have recently bought it? It seems like the earlier sold Venus masks were of good quality but with increase in demand, there seems to be some cost-cutting with elastic bands detaching, poor stitching etc.

Now, I can somewhat understand the agony of the family members of covid patients. Despite having a ICU bed in the absolute best hospital, the absolute best doctors in Kolkata, I'm fearing for a friend's life.
How it must feel when a family member is gasping for breath and no bed is available anywhere.
It's so much easier being a doctor, compared to a patient's friend and family member.
Few minutes ago, I was sitting beside his bed and asked him he needs something ( the guy is not fully conscious, but under minimal fentanyl sedation) since he's intubated and can't talk, wrote in the clipboard with lot of effort "ne tvoje chyba blbě"....meaning it is not your fault dumbass...and I locked myself in the washroom and cried for forgiveness..IT IS ALL MY FAULT

Very painful just reading it. May the almighty give you and your friend the strength to get over this.

Just want to run away from all this and get drunk or high or both. This fellow is one of the best intensivist in the entire ****ing Czechia. Tough as a nail, who the **** told him to come to India? He owes nothing to this country.
This idiot carried a man who collapsed on Gariahat flyover few days back to our hospital in his rented car. While locals were trying to hurry past the collapsed guy.
Matyáš doesn't deserve to die, he is strong as a bull. What am I going to tell Klara!!?? They have 3 wonderful kids, the middle one is our son's age.

No no. And it won't come. When all else looking for some bloody gpu to buy I look for this every day, many times. Try to get in touch with the local authorised retailer of a reputed company and request him to procure some for you, which I did with 3M for a few 9105 units. Even there it's almost like begging. They will ask you firstly whether you are a doctor or other type of front line worker.
