Do they always open the parcel? I am worried that they might send an empty box. Could someone clarify this.

its their own bag thing, not the parcel. i get similar tracking details with bank letters and stuff.

Update: Buyer claims he has received the parcel. Good on Speedpost to deliver it within 2 days from chennai to Delhi. Cost a fraction of charge quoted from private couriers. Are their service always reliable? They still have not confirmed delivery though:

Reliable - yes. Responsible - No. They throw around your stuff with scant regard for what might be inside. So fragile stuff is best avoided.

This is same with all couriers. The couriers receive the packages in their main office, then they simply put the packages in big polythene sacks according to destination, seal it and send it to the Airport. The guys handling the bags don't have a faintest idea about what's inside the bag and the way they treat the bags will make you shiver. They just unload the bags from the vans or minitrucks and throw it on the floor (this is same with Blue Dart, TNT, Overnite exp).

It's your packaging which makes your item survive (and ofcourse your luck !!).

This is first hand experience. My office was at the domestic cargo terminal (where couriers are handled) at the Kolkata Airport for about two years and I saw this everyday.
 
Does anyone here know anything about e sugam form in karnataka? Had to ship an electronics item to Bangalore and every darn courier company keeps asking for that form .And from what i know its a form only a dealer in karnataka can fill up.How can a relative fill such a form.

I guess ill have to bluff about the contents of the box now.Apparently that form has to be filled by the person receiving the parcel.All electrical items need this form for entry into Karnataka.

Dear 80 year old grandma,please visit the karnataka sales tax office and fill the e sugam form and mail me the copy.:@
 
^^Thats weird, i have received many electronic items by courier in bangalore and never faced any problem,infact its the first time i am hearing that form's name :S
 
Guys what are octroi charges for warranty replacement shipment which is stuck in pune?

As far as I know, for warranty replacement goods, their is no octroi right?

My shipment is not destined to delivery in pune and due to pune being their hub, its on hold for octroi.

What do I do??

just received a call from bluedart, listen to this.Computer components are ok , but a motherboard is an electrical item because it has wires lol

Your badluck mate, i have received laptops,hard disks,mobiles,spike busters etc which are electronics and also come with wires and that too mostly from bluedart.

Its not just bluedart, i called up tnt fedex also and they all kept repeating the same.In fact i myself sent a graphics card to bangalore last month.I dont understand what this new nonsense is.
 
I just called up the sales tax office in Karnataka and they said its not needed for an end user.Called up bluedart again after that and they kept saying its required.

Ill wait for some more feedback and try my luck.

Update:Called up the assistant commissioner in the KAR sales tax office, no such form required for consumers.

Its time i had a word with those courier guys.

Octroi is not applicable for warranty replacements or samples not for sale.Unless your packet has a declaration mentioning the same they wont clear it.Of course it also depends on the whims and fancies of those painfully corrupt octroi officials.
 
Anyone sold mobiles of ebay.co.in? Maximum shipping that can be charges is Rs230. How do you ship high end mobiles with that money? Is there any other way around?

have anyone purchased a digicam from LB? hows their service (delivery/ packaging etc)

I am bit skeptical about it as i haven't purchased any item above 9k through online before. so asking. How long it takes after ordering , to reach Bangalore.
