Re: Demon Soul's Discussion Thread

^I felt the same when I began Witcher 2 since it wasn't the regular hack-en-slash type combat but got used to it pretty soon. I think Demon's Souls might be a similar case.

Btw I recall Params' previous avatar based on Demon's Souls. I assumed he might have completed the title long back. :P

Re: Demon Soul's Discussion Thread

I got hooked to Witcher 2 as well. Unfortunately, the performance was butchered on the PC, so couldn't carry on. But in Demon's Souls case, the inventory system really puzzles me. I hate complex inventory grids, where you have about bazillion things to combine and use. This game needs a lot of time and patience, which I don't have at this point. :P

^Withcer 2's inventory/character upgrade is equally complex if I may add. Preparing potions, crafting components and there are a lot of things to mix and match to get the best possible item.

Then I say drop it for the moment, stay clear from RPG titles and complete the rest of the backlogs. :P

Witcher 2 is only difficult upto chapter 2 after which the combat becomes way too easy.

I don't think you have completed Chapter 3 yet. Or you are attempting it on the Easy mode. For someone who cannot stand hack-en-slash titles, I know how would Witcher 2 be. :P

Re: Demon Soul's Discussion Thread

I skipped this title like a noob as i don't have 40+ hours to spend on a game i might not even be able to finish!

Re-started the game today and this time, I have picked the Royalty class. Got to say the YouTube tips were very handy and I hope to give an honest attempt. The soul arrow is a dam useful ranged weapon, though I have to balance it out with melee weapons too. But for now, I think I'll focus on farming souls and gradually increasing my attributes. Love the dark atmosphere, this will really be a swell game to play at night.

Thanks! Since we don't have any active players anymore, I guess my posts will be the only ones echoing in this thread. :P

LOL don't worry man. I'll be keeping an eye on the thread. Been very curious about the game but did not have the guts *shamelessly* to start it when I had the chance to.

Since i don't have anything to play as i have become even more picky now , I will try this out after Ghost recon Future Soldier is done.
@Ethan_Hunt - Which guide did you follow ?

Just key-in, "Demon's Souls tips" in YouTube and you'll get a start off tips video (3 parts of half-an-hour each). The users provides a good explanation of the world tendencies, the upgrades, how to tackle the enemies etc.

I guess this month hardly has any good title besides Max Payne 3 and the next month is more or less the same. So it's a good time to start off, before we finally make our way towards Dark Souls on PC.

Demon's Souls Advice #01/2/3 right ?

I'll go through them on weekends.

That's the one Dinesh. :)
@Gannu: It's OK if you can't get it. I was hoping to boost this conversation up and get a few more of us to try it out.

Anyway, beat the first boss yesterday and so far I'm loving it. Farmed a lot of close to 13k souls in the first level and increased my stats. Bought a new sheild. Unfortunately, I'm back to my soul form, as I got killed by the Red eyed knight, almost twice. Collected the theif's ring and Cling ring. Now onto the next level tonight.

Udit had a copy for sale long back but it got sold I suppose. Ebay has imports. I'll see if I can source one.

In the meantime, glad that you defeated the first boss. Wanted to ask, now that your character died, can you not restart the game from the checkpoint instead of going and collecting the lost souls? I understand checkpoints are a rarity in this title compared to Dark Souls but there should be one somewhere in a chapter?

Contrary to popular belief, this game actually auto-saves on almost every location. However, if you die, you'll leave a blood stain of all the souls you have collected, at the place you die. You'll spawn at the start of the level, which is frustrating, but more so a lesson for you to plan out your future approach in that area. Anyway, if you need to re-gain those lost souls, you have to reach to that spot (where you died) and touch that blood stain. However, if you die before reaching it, then you're screwed. All those souls will be gone forever and you'll start from scratch.

Hence, you need back to Nexus, if you feel you have gathered a lot of souls and you feel the need to spend it on something. I died because of my greed for more souls, but was fortunate enough to re-gain them. I'll not be lucky on the next levels, I reckon. But I now have a full idea of all the nooks and corners of area 1-1 and hence I can come back anytime and harvest more souls. Killing the Red eyed knight instantly gives us a whopping 2k souls. But one hit from is sword and you die instantly.
