What If TE becomes paid forum with ₹100/200 as subscription fees per year? I doubt there isn't much Adsense revenue for this forum.

@Renegade Such thing could happen in future, since websites are going towards paid model?
Also I see, this website doesn't enforce affiliate marketing links for revenue nor encourage paid content?
I understand there used to be paid dealership on the forum, which doesn't exist now.

Yes the only source of revenue is google ads and that is dwindling. So much so that we had to disable a few functionalities like Elastic Search and associated search capabilities like related threads.

Yes we try to minimize the spray of advertising like other sites and a paid model is something that will eventually be needed if things keep going this way. Even the Patron thing was setup with that thought in mind.

I use Ublock Origin and Adblock Plus. After the recent sponsorship stuff on youtube videos i have even started using Sponsorblock. It skips the part of the video which has sponsor content.

On desktop I use uBlock Origin + Ghostery + Clear Browsing Data + ClearURLs + Strict mode in Firefox. I use Green Tunnel to bypass DPI and blocked websites and sometimes a VPN to hide my IP

For mobile I use Blokada + uBlock Origin + Ghostery

I also use Cloudflare DoH for both mobile and desktop. I plan on transitioning to DoT soon

I have been using dns.adguard.com as my dns provider on android for the last few years and I can never go back.
However I do agree, if everyone starts blocking ads then there's no revenue coming in apart from patrons..which isn't enough. Which then forces websites to put more ad scripts on their page, which then forces more users to start using adblocks.

I've seen websites with massive traffics getting shut due to losses in revenue. Like crackwatch.
Pay to use could be the only solution in the far future.

I use pihole via raspberry pi
And following addons on Firefox chrome and edge
Adblock plus
Noscript
Ghostry
Unlock origin

I use a blocker half the time. On one hand, I understand that they're a source of revenue and that we're essentially paying for the free content/product by viewing the ads BUT often enough they're overdone. Webpages with intrusive ads that you have to wait on, or pages that use more than 50% of their area on ads. Don't get started with the youtube ads these days, they're annoying. They show the same thing multiple times in the same video, they show multiple ads at the start (especially if you don't skip) ugh.

Kindly take the poll.
I believe this started since 2010 and we have been used to Blocking ads (Which are mostly annoying).

With growing pay walls on websites, 60% of the websites I used to browse are now paid.

Top news on websites are now under paywall.

Even Ads on TE are now too big and intrusive.:(

I use ublock origin on firefox to block ads on online movie and anime sites, they have a lot of redirects. sometimes video doesn't load if ublock is on.

What's the best way to block ads on Android? I'm told to add the nextdns server under Settings - Network & Internet - Advanced - Private DNS. That's sufficient or any better methods should I follow?

Other than extensions there's one more way by using custom DNS.

The benefit here is it covers your whole network of devices.
Do we need have have any subscription from AdGuard or can we directly use this DNS settings ?

Also, Can you please tell if this block browser ads only or any other Ads like youtube etc.

I can't live without uBlock Origin. For YouTube mobile, Newpipe or Vanced is a must..
I have used AdGuard windows and android app with trials in the past but left them after I learned about NextDNS. It can block all Ada there can ever be in the most lightweight manner. The filter are auto updated on cloud. The blocking is not processed locally so zero battery/perf hit. Great ease of use and convenience overall.

I have used Adguard DNS but you don't have much control with it. NextDNS is free, at least for my usage, and lets you do so much more. Discover yourself...

May I ask, as a noob in this matter, how much it costs to operate a forum as big as TE (per year)?

I was using nextdns (pvt dns) but switched to adguard dns two days back. I don't see any benefit of it over nextdns. It doesn't rid the white spaces just like nextdns. I read somewhere that AdGuard removes the blank spaces but I guess that's only with the app. So I guess going back to NextDNS would be better.
