English TV series discussion

Started watching "Modern Family" and I am hooked to it. The show is genuinely funny and has a heart. I will rate it second only to Friends among sitcoms.
I thought it was based more on Arrested Development

They should do a spinoff focused on the kids. That would be a refreshing change of pace compared to the typical unberable brats in kids shows.

Finished with Firefly mini series. It is good enough.
Started with House MD. First two episodes done.

Guys suggest some other shows which women may love. My wife is hooked to LOST and need to find something else for her after this. The advantage to me is that i too get time to watch the series which i want :P

Desperate Housewives. Its like Entourage for Girls. :P

Nope. You are forgetting that they are all HOUSEWIVES.They can go only so far while gallivanting with men.Entourage is about single guys getting laid(also not getting laid), fancy cars, movies, music, buddy relationship, professional hazards, Hollywood.Major cool quotient.

Ok so Entourage and Community added to the "to procure" list :bleh: Boston Legal might finish procurement in a day or 2.. I have to finish watching Bones before that :S So much to watch so little time :S

Anyone seen complete "That 70s show" ?
I got the DVD box set of the series as gift yesterday. All 8 seasons. Seems to have good score on TV.com and IMDB.
Little worried about it being just another dumb sitcom.

Modern Family is awesome, Friends on the other hand is Meh :P
BTW if you liked Modern family, have a go at Frasier by the same makers. The 2nd best sitcom after Seinfeld..

The season finale of "The Office" was pathetic. I would infact go as far as saying that it was probably the worst episode of Office this season. The writers clearly have absolutely no clue of where to take office from here. Carrell leaving was a big blow to the show and while I wanted the Office to continue without him, I realize now that its just not the same. This season should have ended with carrel leaving.

The finale was so overhyped with promises of getting a glimpse of the new manager plus a cameo by gervais and Jimcarrey. What do we get instead? A 5 sec stupid cameo from carrey and gervais and no hint of the new manager. Out of all the new candidates only spader looked promising to me.

I have watched frasier on TV, didn't really interest me that much. While many TV critiques would rate "Friends" low on the rating scale, I feel I have a connection with the show. I always watch it when I am feeling down and the show instantly makes me happy. I must have seen each episode of Friends more than 10 times and I can still just as easily rewatch any of them again. Friends had the best ensemble cast there can be and thats what makes it special. Not one character in the show is unlikeable or get overshadowed by another.

Friends is not bad, but its not as good as hyped out to be. I also do watch the reruns sometimes on TV, but yep I find there are many better shows around. Again its a personal choice.

Frasier though give it a go for a couple of episodes, you will love the characters. Its a very witty show, imagine Friends with all Chandler characters with different quirks and no annoyances like Ross, or Rachel.. :)

Seems many people have started watching Boston Legal in this thread.
Best show I have ever seen and I think the only one that remained as awesome as S1E1 up until the grand finale of the final season.

Some people might think the grand finale to the series was stupid, but I thought it was the most ridiculously awesome way to commemorate one of the best TV friendships ever (people who have watched the entire series will know what I mean).
