English TV series discussion

Just finished watching season 2 of Strike Back. Season 1 (Origins) was good. I wouldn't say great, but quite entertaining. It was more grounded and realistic. Richard Armitage pulled off a great performance, along with Jodhi May.

Then came season 2 and everything changed dramatically. The pace amped up, locations varied, characters changed and gratuitous amount of nudity arrived. The first 2 episodes were slightly uninteresting, but then it really opened up. The finale was amazing. The gunfights and combat in this show are well directed. The locations are very authentic and well picked. On the acting front, I'm still not entirely convinced with the 2 leads for this season. I mean their banter is good, but their performances are uneven. I suppose the next 2 seasons might change my opinion.

With that said, I admit, I enjoyed the Cinemax+Sky version more than Sky version. It's more edgier and fast paced and that's how I normally like my shows. A good watch for action fans.

Binged watched Generation Kill yesterday..
Brilliant mini-series .. After watching The Wire, this was always on my list .. 7+ hours of total run time ..

Very real portrayal of modern day US military, told through the of 1st Recon Marines as they march from Kuwait to Baghdad to topple Saddam's regime ..
Very documentary styled .. no overt drama .. Excellent dialogue and commentary & Acting.

Will do a repeat watch in a month.

Ziggy Sobotka from S02 of the Wire really shines through with his performance ..

After watching Sherlock S03E02 for the third time, I've come to the conclusion that it has to be probably the best episode in the series. But there is a catch: it is only for those who are obsessed with everything Sherlock. Talking from a pure entertainment POV, it is definitely very boring, and someone who does feel so is justified in their opinion too.

So, standing by my first reaction, and also agreeing with what @dexBG said, I have to change my initial stance. It is a good episode and may herald a great new direction for the series.

I'm obsessed with Sherlock, but there isnt much of Sherlock in the season actually. Just stating the obvious all the time. The first ep was okayish, but the second one was purely lame. Yes it could change the path of the show, but still the marriage could have been compressed.
