English TV series discussion

crash is a strange show.

first of all, the idea of it being a spinoff is stretching the truth a lot. race relations are not the focus of the show... not by a long shot. in fact, the concept of racial tensions is alluded to very mildly, and that too only at the beginning of season 1. after that, it's lost completely.

the show itself is kind of weird as well. it follows the stories of a few main characters, but they aren't really interconnected. so you have about 3 independent stories going on at the same time, with 2-4 major characters in each. the stories themselves are nothing special... they just continue throughout the season. it's not outstanding writing or memorable characters that keeps me watching the show... i just watch it to see what happens in the story. again, to emphasize the point, the stories are not compelling in themselves... a lot like real life tbh... it's never really that exciting. if you do watch the show, check out at least 3 episodes. that should tell you whether you want to continue watching or not. i would say it's difficult to judge with less than that.

i think you will like modern family. its got disfunctional people like arrested development.

anyone else watching Modern Family? Its looking good.
it reminded me of Arrested Development as you said..

also, has anyone here seen Freaks and Geeks? there is only 1 season..but its good.

A question for those who have seen Curb Ur Enthusiasm..how is it? I am a Seinfeld fan but is Larry's writing similar [in terms of quality?] in this show too? coz I saw the reunion episode other day..and I am not sure whether I wud like it or not

the writing is similar to seinfeld, its a little more exaggerated & sometimes even better than seinfeld. must watch especially if you liked seinfeld.

for the british comedy lovers---i am alan partridge and saxondale both played by steve coogan!! funny and a must watch!

and there's coupling another british series which is like friends but more sexually inclined!!

hbo's mini series band of brothers is one series i love to bits! does that qualify here as a tv series?

I watched Coupling back in college. Pretty good fun. What I didn't realise until much later is that it was written by Steven Moffat!!

This guy is brilliant. He wrote some of the best Doctor Who episodes from the new series. Blink, Girl in the Fireplace, Empty Child/Doctor Dances, Silence in the Library/Forest of the dead.

And he's going to be in charge of the show from next season onwards!

Another brilliant show by this guy you should watch is Jekyll. 6 episodes and it's complete and bloody brilliant.

The last Castle episode was rocking imho. :)

Great sexual tension between Nathan Fillon & Stana Katic.

I hope the series has at least 2 more seasons in it.

this episode was pretty good. great acting by the eatern european father. and some touching moments between castle and beckett near the end. but i thought last week's was better, just because it had a more involved plot and better writing than this one.

Dexter Ep. 4 - :O

WTF? Was that the Trinity killah or Anton who shot them? R.I.P. Sgt. Lundy. :(

Confirmed - Debra's a proper slut! The ice-truck killer, Sgt. Lundy, Anton, Back to Sgt. Lundy - sheesh! :|

I think it was trinity because it would allow dexter to have a personal vendetta against him. But that would be too simple and predictable so maybe just to add a little twist to the tale, the killer might turn out to be anton. Hell, Anton could be the vacation murderer for all we know, it will explain his absence earlier this season. But if it was anton, why would he shoot Deb?

I think Dexter is getting too predictable. It is lacking the tension and thriller element of season 1.

Bad things are bound to happen to anyone who dates her.

Tell me about it! S1 was so so awesome.

Anton like Deb said before, has this jealous attitude towards her and Anton must've already found out her motives with her ex! :p
