which is kinda solved when i play around with the eq, but it starts distorting when I pump it up

In that case, an amp/DAC could even damage the can, if the onboard itself can cause distortion.
High impedance Headphones will have less than half the volume, with most onboard sounds. Even amped soundcards find it hard to drive such headphones.

no no, the distortion is due to the onboard. My transcend T 610 or my Audigy2ZS can drive it cleanly to very high levels without distortion.

In fact, the onboard on my office desktop ( a sigmatel) drives it the loudest !

^ Get a better headphones first ! Audio-Technica AD-700 maybe ?

I was wondering why you weren't considering this first, because an amp/dac won't do ep630 and 805 any good. Why not just get some good decent (not sunnyboi decent ) comparatively easy to drive headphones/IEMs for now. It will anyways sound better than the current gear you are using. You can get the dac/amp later. :)

Waiting to see what goodies you've decided to get. :D

Well, nothing new. A certain gentleman has offered to sell me his Ambassador DAC+ AMP for a rate which is almost as good as giving it away :P

You probably know who he is by now ;)

^ Not Really. Who's that gentleman ? :P

I have planned out my audio upgrades perfectly.Just the cash inflow needs to be perfect as well  .

Portable>Settling down with a perfect portable source in a weeks time.No more IEM investment for me now.RE-252s perfect and an RE-0 can also be if I can source a Arrow 12HE portable amp.

For desktop I already have the EF2A DAC + tube amp which does the work fairly well and I might even get another better DAC soon .Just need a pair of awesome cans now.Denon AHD2000 is the dream can so that I can perform the MarkL mods on it and make it sound as good as a D5000. If budget doesnt work out for D2000 will settle for an AD-700 most probably after trying it out .:ashamed:.

^Hope atleast 70% of this is accomplished 6 months from now. *day-dreaming*

^Yeah that's the reason for the selling spree :P. Do let me know How the SHP9000 stack up against the RX900.I am sure the bass will be inferior but need to know about the detailing and midrange. ;).

Hope you are satisfied with the 9000.I am still not sure ,how will you react to them with a RX900 and 8900 already there in your booty. How do you plan to drive them ? They need loads of power. Only my EF2A was able to get the best out of them . ;)

well. Thats a mystery ;)
The 8900 itself needs almost 3X power than the 64Ohm RX900. The 32Ohm rating of the 8900 is highly misleading. It should be some 120 Ohm or something, given both are 106dB sensitive.

Are you going to get the wooden cup for the D2000?

I don't even have the D2000 :ashamed:. The wooden cups are available at markl Mod Pricing but super expensive. They even sell completely pre-modded AHD2000 for 500-1300$ .

Also I think its possible to make those wooden cups ..someone told me its an easy job.;)

Such wooden cups can be custom made with the help of a carpenter, given right dimension and right wood. Might be hard in metros, but easy considering places like mine [half town]

looking at them, all they need is some wood, time, a lathe and a skilled & willing carpenter, with the last ingredient being the hardest to find :P

have you tried just damping the insides?

^ Read my post carefully.:P I shouldn't have posted about the D2000. Guys its just a dream cans .I DONT own them :| anyways all those tips on making the wooden cups was helpful , should come to use when I get my hands on the 2000s .

^ No idea again .. Head-fi is your best friend in these matters or maybe you could ask Lynx-India owner ,he had got samples and reviewed it himself with PL-11 .

By the way I think you should wait for a few more user reviews on E7 and go for it if its a good deal. 80$ is too good for a DAC + AMP.

I already saw that review with lots of pics and evaluation on pl-11 :D

The thing is a pure beauty, no argument. SOme research on head-fi says, its really good for the price and features.
