Its 9800GTX and not GTX+... And that price has been there on a lot of other websites for eternity :P...

I didn't see the $199 price till today

Last I'd checked all the cards were still $269 and above..

Its been like this for quite some time! I'd say 4 days at least! ;)

Ok.. My mistake :)

GTX 260 is available on preorder on fxvideocards

$390! Yikes!

If you see the 4870 review link I've posted, 4870 is pretty much even (and sometimes better) than the GTX 260.. And at a price tag of $300 :hap2:

Yep saw that, a few more confirmations and I'm all set with ati!! I hope they can scale well in crossfire.

Welcome to the dark... err.. red side, mate. :)

Seriously though, I switched to ATi with 3870. While it was not more powerful than 8800GT at that time, I can say that I have no regrets. I'm actually happy with this card. :)

I found an interesting thing today scouting around on the net:

XFX Geforce 9800 GTX Black Edition

The card runs at 760MHz core, 1900MHz Shaders and 2280MHz memory.

This is greater than the 9800 GTX+ (738MHz core, 1836MHz Shaders and 2200MHz memory)

It is already available for $229 on Tigerdirect.

Kind of defeats the purpose of releasing the 9800 GTX+, doesn't it?

No not really, the 55nm 9800 will have tons of headroom for overclocking with its double slot cooling and thats a factory overclocked card, I wont expect factory oc parts to come down below 229 a lot if they are on par with the 55nm clocks. Its always wise to buy a vanilla, will usually overclock as well as any factory oced until unless the oced card has additional circuit to support it (as was seen with the evga 7900gt ssc).

Ah ok :)

For a second there I was almost tempted to ask KMD for a quote on the XFX card. I pretty much have to keep saying "overclocked 4850s on their way" every time I get an urge to splurge :bleh:

Somebody was asking about 9800GTX+ power consumption. I think the graph from AnandTech takes care of this question perfectly.

As for complete picture, Shimpi says:

In a little over 12 hours we'll be able to complete the story with a full look at AMD's RV770 GPU and the Radeon HD 4870, so for a full, detailed performance analysis come back then. Until then, in short, the 9800 GTX+ doesn't really change anything for NVIDIA. NVIDIA needs to further drop the price of the GeForce 9800 GTX or GTX+ in order to make them truly competitive with the Radeon HD 4850, there's nothing more to it.

Exactly waiting for the oced 4850 is the best thing right now! I do think we will see another drop on 9800gtx /+ prices if its placed like around ~$215.
Any one in for buying a video card should wait around 15 days atleast to make his decision, 4870 would be out, prices on 260 would normalize and we would know the best bang for buck by then :)

Hyeah :ohyeah:

Overclocked 4850 with aftermarket cooler for $229 would be a sweeter deal than the 9800 GTX+ any day!
