They all are quite decent. If you click on the map, it explodes to a bigger view -- and you can click each zone stand and the pop up will tell the details. I chose west since I can see the incoming speed, and a small turn, start of the pit stop....and almost near the finish.

Oh man.... tickets are expensive and I am broke :( ..... and parking!!! well seems like the blakc money aint goin anywhere but here in India ;)

PS: hopefully next year..... education costs a bombe

The only bummer is that they say they wont allow backpack in the arena. I mean WTF?? I can understand food and stuff. But why not backpack? Are people coming from out of city suppose to leave their valuables like laptop at hotel? Not to mention I have a backpack for my DSLR kit. :@

I read in the site that they dont allow professional cameras. Does it include DSLRs??

Some guy on xbhp claims to have taken these photos on Aug 21st which is just few days ago:

I hope they finish it in time because it looks far from getting finished!

All structures are up. The finishing is remaining, that does not take time these days. Main work is structural.

Also not entire circuit and arena is going to be ready for this year.

Part of the construction work will be still in progress come the race.

Only track, stands, media centres, stand catering centres, parking will be ready.

Lot of other things will be complete only by next year's race.

The final layer of tarmac will be laid 45 days before the race as per the instructions from the FIA and track constructors. So nothing much to worry about.

Thats the big question.

I even plan to buy and take 300mm lens with me.

But I dont think they should mind. DSLR may or may not be a professional visual equipment. The real pro cam category is 5DMII, D3s, D700 etc.

What I have and plan to buy and take to the race is still considered as entry level / enthusiast DSLR.

What you think and what Indian babus think will probably be completely different :)

Need suggestions for choosing the Stand which one would would be a good choice?

I too need to know. I am confused between the 6500 worth tickets on the West Stand and the North Stand. While the West is close to the Grand Stand, it is also the slower section of the track. On the other hand, the North offers a view of the cars coming in at top speed. Far more rush of blood :D

Folks who have booked, can you tell if tickets are 'transferable'? In the event I give up my plans due to the parking mess, I would like to be able to transfer it to someone.

Now the government wants an import duty on the equipment which will come in. Upon exit, the amount can be returned minus 2%. Either the teams will give it or JP will provide. It is apparently valued at 600 cr.

Gulp...

Apparently most countries which host this event set up a custom block area (only place where the in-flight cargo is allowed) and then it leaves the country from there. India is refusing to adhere to this practice. Also the ministry is categorizing F1 as entertainment and not sports.

Let us hope they are able to resolve it.

As things happen in the flow of time....

Custom Free area request rejected. "Someone" will have to pay the import (refundable) duty. Also there might be a concept of custom officials escorting the manifesto to the circuit, and being opened/packed under their supervision. JP is still hoping for a revision to the plea to get a custom free area.

Visa processing is taking ~3 weeks at the Indian Missions abroad. The professionals are not to happy with this, cause it entitles them to submit their passport for the same duration. How will they travel, with such intense itineraries.

As usual, when one is in a seat of power -- they exercise their rights. Typical.
