i didnt catch the qualifying on tv today, is that decal really up on the car is that just some promo sh*t.

Also i hope there are no stray dog incidents tomorrow. That will the end of international motorsports in India.

NO thank god it was only for promo,it was actually a strategy for the car to get top place cause other drives will get distracted by that bullshit ra.one print,i thought dogs are dead for sure because of the way hamilton and massa were driving:P

He was a guest I suppose. And he is an avid car enthusiast, he owns a slew of supercars and he crashed one of them recently..a McLaren F1 :p

What was Rowan Atkinson doing with Hamiltons(If i am not wrong) team?? Is he a member??

Nice to see the race proceed without any organizational blunders..! More than the actual race, I was more worried about this aspect only. Now, I hope to witness the next season's Indian GP live. :hap2:

^He had flashbacks of crashing his F1 while stuck in the character of Mr. Bean.

Mayawati handed the winner's trophy to Vettel, I wonder if she will make a statue to commemorate that moment.

I simply don't get this. Most Indians weren't even aware of the sport. But today,I walked in for a haircut and I see people debating on who was going to win.The best part "Scoomaker hi jeet ta.Dekho tum."

Rowan atkinson was a mercedes team driver in some gt class,Really amazed by this fact.
After first 3 laps it was same boring race.Stopped watching it,any influence by pakaw khan intervention in force India's results.

Great race. Vettel killed it, Massa and Hamilton were big disappointments. Force India .... well expected.

n he is the fastest man on Top-gear track in a reasonably priced car.:P

^ Vettel killed it? Come on he is baby Schumi, just doing what Schumi did for F1 when he dominated - made it boring.

Force India might have done better. They were rumored to have nose sections to give them better front grip and improved top speed but on seeing Ra.One on it they decided not to use it because they were afraid that the drivers may dose off because even when they tried to look ahead a bit of it was always visible making them drowsy.

Hopefully, Kimi rumors are true and Williams does make a cracker of a car next year for him.

i dont even know how much the human aspect of this sport is ....have a good car and you win ..so where is the human emotion in this?

^^ The skill to manoeuvre and plan the race strategies.

But this so called 'sport' is still not something any sane minded person should promote. My personal thoughts.

You my friend should watch ayrton senna race, you should watch the epic battles between schumacher and hakkinen and then watch some more of schumacher's racing. there's a lot of human element and emotion in this sport.

Ok...just got back today from the BIC. :)

Thing were much better organized today. I guess they picked up some tips and tricks after the fiasco past two days. From the pick-up points each zone bus left periodically and left people at their respective gates. So we did not have to face the mercy and rowdiness of the shuttle fleet within the inner radial of the circuit. Coupons for H20 and beverages were separated from the food -- quite obvious that the prior will be consumed more. I reached around 12'esh and the JK series were starting. Decent 125cc cars which packed a decent punch. The stands were quite empty till now. At 1 : 30 PM there was a 'drivers parade' where each driver was driven around the circuit in a vintage car. There was a minute of silence for two drivers who died in the past weeks. Moto GP and Indy car. After that our National Anthem. All stood up respectively. This was quite nice. At 2 : 30 PM the circuit was thrown open for the cars to warm up and pit movement was voluntary. The first Lotus car zipped by and all the people in the stands stood up. After that at 3 : 00 PM there was the warm up lap with the governance of the pace car. I think this is probably the only moment when all 24 moved in pole formation. The sound was awesome and the crowd went ....berserk. Most people really do not know how much power these cars possess, but were slammed in the face with the roar and hum of engines screaming. Post that the race started and 60 laps of controlled mayhem + BHP were blasted in the circuit. It literally felt like BIC was screaming. There were quite a lot of close hits. I think the Sabeur was out in the beginning laps. Some cars also touched each other. The usual. They decided to move to hard compound rubber as they had started with soft (yellow stripes) initially. There had been talks that Pirelli will play safe with lower speed soft compound since they do not have enough data regarding BIC as of now. It was fun watching the 3 second pits.

As we all know Vettel grabbed the finish first and was given the honors by Lady M.

Some things which I noticed. Security within the stands was quite lax. People were "sneaking in" water bottles and food items. I just imagined if someone hurled a bottle on the track. It can really be bad. Some spectators chose to stand on the plastic chairs. I really found this lame and cheap. Selfish at the same time. The guard would whistle at them, and they would step down and promptly be up again. 99% of the females knew nothing about what was happening. Probably only that 4 wheels are moving really really fast with a ton of noise....!

The buses dropped us back, and there was a massive traffic jam. Took 2.5 hours to reach Nehru Place. This time of the session is also quite hot for outdoor events. If Moto GP happens anytime before November 2012 I will give it the wide berth.

Overall, an experience one should try out -- at least once in their lifetime. Will I go next time. (?). Na....too much traffic issues and way to dusty and hot. But JP have pulled it off successfully. Kudos. And errm....Bravo.....!
:)

I totally enjoyed watching the race on TV. Track was just okay to me. Nothing spectacular compared to SPA or Monza because of its nature. Race too was just okay. Star Sports commentator Steve Slater went on to say this was the best race of the F1 season so far :cool2:

^Asingh dude, I dont think this track suits MotoGP . May be WSB could go well here :D

I don't think that motor racing viewership is going to pick up in this country soon. This track got so much attention because it was the first for India. The only reason it garnered the crowd is because people went to see what the commotion is about. They went to see a really fast car. Its like when the first mall opens in a small town. People flock for the first few weeks and then the shopkeepers sit idle for at least the next two years.

I could see aunties in sarees sitting there. Pardon me for assuming that they don't even know what a lap means, let alone slipstream. The euphoria must already be dead for people who went there. So next year we will see a fresh batch of suckers. Who knows even I might be there for my first and last.
