FREEBIES from MTNL!!!

Bah. I'm not getting even my plan's 1mbps speed. And my net keeps getting disconnected. How nice of MTNL.
 
For the love of God, why can't we get proper broadband in India? This is turning into a bloody joke. :@
 
Wow!! This is seriously messed up man, are they effing reducing our speeds and giving people 2mbps. Heck I am already looking for alternatives...

 
got 2mbps from 12.01am - i was up after the WC final. 2mbps still !!!

edit : sion exchange for me. my cuz at belapur did not get the speed bump, so i think it depends on your exchange.
 
I'm at kharghar and i'm getting 2mbps. Max of 215kBps download speeds, pulling about 750mb an hour! woohoo!
 
Me too back to where i was before. Upload speeds remain same as 953 kbps while download reduced to 1 Mbps.

I am just hoping that this weekly bumps from MTNL and then further reverting back does not cause the party to get over for people who are already getting more speed than their designated plan speed :P
 
Why is MTNL doing this to me? I never got any speed increase yesterday, forget speed increase, my regular speed plan of 512 kbps is giving me 320-350kbps download speed,

No one is going to pickup the phone today, This kind of treatment to me is making me ANGRY, I am not able to express the steam that is coming out of my ears currently. If I see any MTNL employee near me today, he is going to get a BIG PUNCH ON HIS FACE :(
 
Forget double speeds, be happy if your net is working. Mine isn't since yesterday evening. This has become a norm now. Every 2 to 3 days,a downtime of hours if not a day.

I had an amazing experience with mtnl since last May, but now since 2 months its terrible.

You are not alone bro, I am with you. I am on a 1mbps connection and if you see page 3 of this thread you will see what speeds I am getting.
Looking at the other people getting the advertised speeds only makes me more angry, I don't care about the 2mpbs speed but why am I being of robbed for the speeds I pay for.

I used to sing praises for this ISP. After going through some pathetic ISP's I had finally found MTNL back in 2006, never had issues before 2010. 2010 is the year all started going down hill for me.

If this still continues I'll look for an alternative soon.

You should be happy with that kind of bandwidth,why are you so angry when your getting 6 times of what you paid for,and those speeds are more than 2 mbps .
 
Yeah same here. I had massive downtime yesterday and I had racked up a LOT of stuff to download thinking I'd be able to manage around 20GB or so ( 2mbps DL speed ) but barely managed 6GB because my net was constantly down and I wasn't even getting advertised speeds. On my 1mbps connection I was hovering anywhere from 500-600kbps. Upload is still at less than 256k for me ( and I need at least 256k for CSS ). And as soon as my modem would get a link, it would lose it again. Forget the ACT light lighting up. I'm taking out the "@a" from my username and hopefully it will do something productive for me.

I had gotten MTNL last may after going through Reliance Wimax, Broadllyne ( local fiber ), 5net ( also local fiber ) and till last month, it was the best connection ever. No downtime, superspeeds ( I was one of those unthrottled customers at the time ) so out of virtue of having a fast connection, I didn't download much. I regret not taking it for granted. And then last month happened. Downtime started. Speeds started getting throttled like crazy, and the connection was getting ridiculously unstable.

I'll be moving to Chennai soon so I'm happy that I'll get my rated speeds at least there. Seriously, yesterday it came to the point where I was praying I'd get a throttled connection cuz that was more stable than the crap I had yesterday for internet.

He means, instead of getting 64KB/s, he's getting 40-45KB/s. Not 350KB/s

I don't even know how people are getting 512k upload speeds. This is my result from speedtest.net

 
Yes instead of cribbing you should be thankful if your net is working.What you get from mtnl is benefit because of their mistakes.You should pray that your net works and than any freebie happnes than that too should happen to you too.

I know on sunday their dept is closed so we cant cry that we not getting double the speed.Only respite we can have is tease ppl like raks after april you will miss something which you were getting..as i have decided to do so.lolz

As pointed out, its kbps and not KB/s i.e 512kbps = 0.5mbps , and I am getting 320kbps = 0.33 mbps, upload is even worse.

Also as said by magnet, I am not crying for 1 day 2mbps speed increase, if it comes good, else nothing to cry about. What I am saying is that MTNL should atleast give proper speed for which it is charging money, instead of this, its giving increased speed to some people and less speed to some who should atleast get what they pay.
 
I am happy with the speeds i have currently, my 2mbps which started on saturday nite midnight has yet not ended so happy leeching, and even not bothered when they realise and bring it down to 1mbps. As far as upp speeds go feck it, not bad at 256k and at times i can buy a box and forget about this crap.

update

net went down as soon as i made this post and just came up, now its changed router shows me 2048 down and 1018 up, my download speeds are 1mbps flat as per plan but upload still 28-31k, i did a speedtest on speedtest.net download shows as 1.17mbps and upload shows 0.75mbps but in the end settles at 0.22mbps. I have no packet losses or any issues with my connection. now what. Is there a cap or we get upload speeds also only on sundays??
