j1n M@tt said:get the Gigabyte G31 mobo and a low end grfx card...Intel IGPs sux big time. Even my old 6200TC is better than GMA3100 on the G31 chipset(but some how Vista performance rating will give u big values for GMA)
The Sorcerer said:@ jin: Agreed. I suggest you stick to gigabyte g31-s2l out of all the thing that is advised here. Stay away from random "try this try that" recommendation. This isnt a fashion show.

j1n M@tt said:I suggested G31-S2L as the OP needs a normal system. If I suggested anything else here, stubborn TE Gigabyte fans will cut my neck for sure(plz don't do it now guys). If I was buying a E5200, I would sure pick up a MSI Neo P45-F or EVGA 650SLi mobo as I like to overclock a bit more than others...and for normal usage I would pick up at least a P5KPL-CM or a P5QL-CM...like I now use for my home PC as u can see in my siggy.
j1n M@tt said:ok..I just said my personal preference, and every one hav their own. I didn't say Gigabyte G31 mobos are so cheap and bad...there isn't much difference between the G31-S2L and the P5KPL-CM and I hav seen wat both these mobos can do, they are gud in their own ways.
But seriously y do u think a P45/P35/650i mobo has nothing more to giv than a G31 mobo?!!...then y u all go and use a E7xxx series or E8xxx series or even a Quad with G31?? G31 hav support for them, nah??...and way too easy to save money!!
I hav no favoritism for any brands, just suggesting wat I see gud to use...other than following trends like E5200 means Gigabyte G31-S2L...PSU means VX450 and so on here.

Seriously what are you on about here?
Apart from personal preference, do you really believe the MSI Neo or the EVGA 650 will let you OC the E5200 higher than the Giga G31 series? The G31 series can already handle speeds way beyond what you would even consider for 24/7 use.
And im not a gigabyte fan, neither are a lot of people who suggest these boards. It's kinda wierd that when you back a product because of it's capabilities, you get accused of favouring certain brands. I don't care if the aforementioned G31 boards were made by the same guys that make Manikchand gutkha, i'd still back them because i've seen what they can do first hand. It's not that there aren't better boards out there, but there are none that do what these do at this price range, not to mention the fact that even a 2k or so external GPU will thrash the capabilities of lower-end mobo's with reasonable IGP.
