What is the best brand for 9400gt???

for wht purpose are u buying the card?

if its for gaming then take atleast 9500gt ddr3

9400gt wont be of any good

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

guys for any gfx card recommendation dont forget to mention these 4 things

1.cpu

2.ram

3.psu

4.budget

they are very essential cos if these items dont meet the requirements for the card then its pointless upgrading...

for example there is no point buying a 4850 for a single core system p4 system with say 1gb ram....:):)

No it wont bottleneck..
a card like HD4850 is mainly bottlenecked by CPUs like Pentium D..
Make sure you get a minimum of gigabyte superb 460w PSU to run the card..:)

Yes i will be getting gigabyte. Many are suggesting that CPU will bottleneck.

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

9400 for gaming ? Really ?

I would recommend nothing less than a 9800gt. The rest of your pc is (cha..genius) is awesome why buy some half assed htpc card.

If you have 10k 5770 (around 11.5) is not so bad maybe after 6 months price of that will be like 7k , so all you are going to save is around 4-5 its not really worth it.

I can't upgrade the CPU. Should i anyway buy 4850 or shall i downgrade the GPU?

buy 4850 if u r gonna upgrade ur cpu in sometime

else buy 4670 or 9600gt(dont forget to buy better smps for this)

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Please, If someone is going with a 9400gt..please try to understand the budget restriction..

and the need also..

You cannot suggest a guy HD5770 who has a budget only of 2.5k and wants a temporary card and that too not for gaming.

SO, please see before you text in your comments.

Yes, it is always advisable to wait for a new series.

I think you should follow your own advice.

No..stick to the HD4850..

1.8ghz dual core will definitely bottleneck 4850

infact it does bottleneck 9800gt and lower cards to some extent...

at lower resolution (1240x1024 or lower) the bottleneck is more pronounced...

You posted this without even seeing the previous replies..
the guy wants a DX11 card and wants to wait till nvidia launches its series..
so for the time being he wants a low budget card(the cheapest infact)..
and you are suggesting him the HD 5770..
nice..

Yes, you are right.

there will be bottlenecking..

Got confused by E6400:huh::huh:

But a HD4850 is still recommended if you are planning on an upgrade of CPU later on....

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

I am not planning on a cpu upgrade in the near future. I thought of using 4850 with my current setup for 1 year and then upgrade the entire rig along with the gpu :hap2:. Anyway 4850 is only 2k more than 9600gt will i be wasting money if i choose to buy 4850 instead of 9600gt. Also will the bottleneck lead to 4850 functioning similar to 9600gt or is it only the full potential of 4850 can't be achieved.

my question is simple

how much will the perfomance reduction be if i use 4850 with e6300 and q6600 ?

and

Is the performance of 4850 and 9600gt with e6300 will be the same?

the answer is not simple as it seems

the performance varies from games to games i mean

some games will perform better on 4850 marginally or more some will perform similar to 9600gt whereas some will perform worse than 9600gt

u get weird performance results if ur system is not balanced...

a note to say

i had x2 5200(2.6ghz) with 9800gt few months back just to check performance loss at lesser clock i lowered the multi to 10 (2ghz clock) and what's said above is wht i observed.....i checked it with some 12 games

It is very difficult to say that..
it will depend and many things and it cannot be calculated by how much amount the bottleneck will be there..

I used to run a 9600gt with a Pentium D..later moved on to X2 550..
the change was drastic.
