i have a query regarding 4850.
I have corsair VX450W PSU and my question is can it handle 4850?
My PC config is-:
Proccy-: Intel Pentium D 925 running at stock speed i.e. 3.0GHz
MB-: Gigabyte G31M-ES2L
RAM-: 1x512MB Transcend 667MHz having clock of 5 and 1x1GB Kingston 667MHz having clock of 5
HDD-: 1x500GB Seagate 7200.12 and 1x320GB WD
ODD-: 1x Sony CD writer
and also i have one Internal TV Tuner card
Can all this with my 4850 512MB run on Corsair VX450W. GUIDE ME!!

Yes it will easily be able to power that card, and ones the consume even more power.
Please mention your gaming res./display size so that a good suggestion can be given out.
It would also help you get a nice performance boost if you sell your current DDR2 RAM sticks and get a 2x2GB 800Mhz or higher kit.

My display size is 18.5" LCD and the gaming resolution is 1280x1024 upto 1600x900.

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

You could use a new processor as well , not sure a Pentium D is going to cut it at 1600 900

10k is the budget only for the GPU or GPU + PSU.?

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

only for GPU

but i was thinking that if i get a cheap card now,i can upgrade it after 6 months to mainstream DX11 graphic cards. Is it ok or shud i just get a good card now for 10K

I can adjust for a low end card which can do 1280x720 at low settings or 800x600 at medium settings in games like Shift,Batman,Gta4 etc

please help

Waiting will be the best option as of now as the prices are sure to come down when nvidia comes out with the GT series..

can i play gta4 on this rig at any resolution?

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Yes, you can run GTA4..

but it will have problems..

i had the same CPU before and GTA4 was not even playable on dead low settings with a HD4670..

So you can buy this card now..and play GTA4 when you upgrade your CPU later..

What is the best brand for 9400gt???

All brands are good..
but try to stay away from palit..
XFX,ASUS will be a little bit costly..
try to get ZOTAC or MSI.

No it wont bottleneck..
a card like HD4850 is mainly bottlenecked by CPUs like Pentium D..
Make sure you get a minimum of gigabyte superb 460w PSU to run the card..:)
