Where are you getting it at that price?
second hand?
and dont even think of running it on that PSU..get a FSP 400w or a gigabyte superb 460..
it is a RMA'ed one which Deep_nx was selling.
http://www.techenclave.com/members-market/evga-9800gt-1gb-2-updated-28th-157143.html

should i go for it?? is it worth buying at that price??
i need a fast and helpful suggestion from your side as i'll be buying tomo from Zapak if you'll recommend.
what would be the vfm option for me at the moment for the PSU?

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

If you can spend 6-7k on the GPU and then some more on the PSU, then its better that you get a GTS 250 for around 6.3k..and a gigabyte superb 460/FSP saga 400..that should cost you around 2.2k

If thats your combined budget for both GPU and PSU..

then you can go with the 9800gt on sale with a gigabyte superb 460 PSU/FSP saga 400

Id suggest you go with the GTS 250 option, since you have a big monitor...will be better than 9800gt in that..

and the 9800gt does not have any warranty...so better to keep away from that..

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Is there any chance of price fall for GTS 250 1GB in near future(one or two months) ???

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

No sudden fall is foreseen, it will continue falling at normal rate as time progresses..

lol..sounds like a weather forecast..

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

what is the future of dx10 cards? I also have a plan to buy GTS 250 ... or can I wait for fermi mainstream cards from nvidia...heard that they are preparing fermi gf 104 and 106 ,108 cards for this july (and no plans for ati cards....I sold my ATI 5850 this month)

DX10 is here to stay for now, i havnt heard any news about new mainstream nvidia cards being launched this july other than GTX465...

and ATI 6XXX is due for Q4 of 2010..

why did you sell of your HD 5850?

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Hy Bro,

Planning to buy a new card for my secondary rig with c2d 2.93ghz, budget under 5000 and purpose casual gaming, plz suggest vfm card.

thanx

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

^^^ yea gtx 460 and other gf 104,106, 108 model are coming this july ....so I must wait...I used nvidia for 7 years...5850 was gr8...very high fps, very low temp etc....but I like nvidia ...I didn't like the control panel and options of ATI drivers...

guys please tell me which online shop is selling EVGA fermi cards..? I searched a lot...Didn't find any..

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

err , can I expect 5850 price drop to 11k after 2 months ??

Or 5770 Price drop to 7k within 2 months ??

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

5850 drop to 11k will not happen, since it does not have much competition in that price/performance range.

GTX 260/4870 1 gb are still 10k + inspite of having released ages ago ! Demand could be a reason, but situation was similar even before release of DX11

Wish there was more competition for Ati/Nvidia /sigh

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Hahah unbelievable. You had one of the best cards out there and you sold it cause you like NVIDIA?!

Very unlikely..

even after the 6 series come out..

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Hey,

My second post in this thread! Hopefully second time is luck and I get the card :D

Looking for a Vfm card of mainly HD playback(1080) and casual/basic gaming ( like portal/css and stuff)

My rig specs are

E5200

G31M-S2L

1gig 800mhz ram

and Dell 24" S2409w

My budget would idealy be the minimum for the above said stuff the less the better! ( max say about 4-5k?)

Thanks!

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

Grab a HD 4350. Retails for less than 4k IINM. :)

Supports 8-channel LPCM over HDMI. So in case you wish to connect the output to a AVR that supports the decoding, you are all set. :D

The HD4350 costs only 2k. Its a good HTPC card. :) Whereas the HD4650 which is a better gaming card costs 3k + 2GB RAM. (DDRII prices have dipped to 2.3k for 2GB. Grab em before prices rise again)
But as u have the budget i would suggest the Sapphire HD4670 512MB ~ 3.9k. Great entry level gaming card and will last you for sometime.
