Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

That is a relief! though, thats the next upgrade when I save enough! :)

The HD 5670 consumes less power while having better fps than the HD 4760 right? Will it make sense to spend the extra 1k to get it? considering me system is on 24/7?

-Tks!

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

^In any case, you are better off with another power supply than that crappy Zebronics 400w model - did it come bundled with your enclosure? If so, please throw that into the trash can and get yourself an entry level power supply from Gigabyte/FSP. Costs ~1.6k.

The HD4350 costs only 2k. Its a good HTPC card. :) Whereas the HD4650 which is a better gaming card costs 3k + 2GB RAM. (DDRII prices have dipped to 2.3k for 2GB. Grab em before prices rise again)
But as u have the budget i would suggest the Sapphire HD4670 512MB ~ 3.9k. Great entry level gaming card and will last you for sometime.
HD4670 for 3.9k?
the HD 5450 is for 3650 on prime website. Wouldn't HD4670 be for less then?

Dual Core 2.2
Gigabyte G31 mobo
2 GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM
Standard 500Rs 400W PSU
20" Samsung B2030 LCD monitor

Need a gfx card for basic gaming (like FIFA/Cricket/Tennis/car racing). I'm just not into gaming but I wanna play some of the above mentioned games for kicks. It's just a temporary phase during which i will be in the mood. So i don't want to spend and buy an expensive card.

Pls advise suitable gfx card and approx price. Will i need to invest in any other hardware?

You can get the HD 5670, should be good for gaming at 1600x900 resolution...

it will play all the latest games and will be futureproof as well..

should cost around 5.2k

and get a better PSU too..a FSP 400w for 2k will be perfect..

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

^ get a GTS 250...

its the best among the cards you have mentioned and fits in your budget too...

if you want your card to be futureproof with DX11 and you dont intend on upgrading your monitor..

the HD5670 will work perfectly too...

Dont go for the GTS 250 with your PSU. Its power hog. I would recommend the

512MB HD5670 GDDR5 ~ Rs.5250

512MB HD4770 GDDR5 ~ Rs.5950

You can crossifre only the HD5450 with the HD4200 IINM. Hybrid Xfire was to boost the performance of entry level cards like the HD34xx series HD 43xx series etc... You cant Hybrid Xfire anything other than HD545o with ur IGP and the HD5670 beats the Hybrid XFire it easily in terms of performance.

MSI Hawk 1GB GDDR5 ~ 9.6k This is the best card in ur budget. Will let u play games like Metro at 1280*1024 i guess :p Will last u sometime if used with a 20"(1600*900 res or lesser). Will run out of steam soon if the resoultion is Full HD.

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

As DarkAngel suggested a MST HD 5770 Hawk is what you should get..in addition to that..its better you get a new PSU something like a Corsair vx 450...
A corsair CX400 should also be able to handle the card, but suggesting the VX450 as you have a Q6600 and it will give you room for overclocking as well..

It will handle ur current set up with hawk. But with O.C ed Hawk.I am not sure.
The reason ur 600w CM is inferior to VX450 is the rated 600w of CM is peak watts and the one which the PSU can provide continously.

Corsair VX450 vs CM extreme power 600 (some key differences):
(1) Rated at 50 degrees C vs rated at 25 degrees C
(2) Active PFC (0.99) vs passive PFC (no PFC in most models sold in India)
(3) 80%+ efficiency guranteed vs 65-70% roughly.
(4) Hi-Qual Jap caps vs not so Jap caps
(5) Double ball bearing fan vs sleeve bearing fan most prolly
(6) 5 yr warranty vs 2/3 yr warranty (heard that low end CM psu like Extreme power series have only 2yr warranty now. )
(7) Seasonic vs Seventeam budget/value range.

. Do some googling. Is typing HD5450 review that tough.

techPowerUp :: Sapphire HD 5450 512 MB GDDR3 Review :: Page 29 / 33

FYI the performance of HD4670 is 275% more the HD5450 on an avg. :p

HD4670 is the best gaming card u can buy for less than 4k and will perform very well for the games u are planning to play at those resolutions.

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

I've decided to get a 5850, and just need to know if there really is any major difference between the different brands (ASS experience included) like Sapphire, POV, XFX etc.

I dont think u can get a POV in India. XFX RMA is handled by Rashi. So the best choice is Sapphire. Sapphire RMA is handled by Aditya Infotech. They have pretty decent feedback in the forum. Plus Sapphire is ATI premium partner.

Re: The Graphic Card Advisor

^There are members in the forum who have got hold of POV GPUs and power supplies. Their A.S.S is handled by Tirupati and Aditya Infotech. :)

Oops my bad. I knew about PSU's. Didnt know they sell GPU's here. Havent seen a listing in dealers section or most of the online sites. Might be a bit difficult to source them i guess.
