If u can get MSI CYCLONE GTS450 at max.7.5K(all) then grab MSI.....
is that the price of OC edition or the normal one

moreover the lynx site says 6.8k for zotac normal one...(huge drop man better to get gts450 now rather than 5770(...:clap::clap:
if the price is same at lamington maybe its better to grab zotac if its not the OC (MSI cyclone) one

Yea,CYCLONE is a OC Edition.

But,if u getting Zotac @6.8k(all) then buy that.

BTW,today's most video cards are either PCI-E x16 2.0 or 2.1 .

Will they work on old mobo like Gigabyte G31 which got PCI-E x16 1.0 interface ???.....

Please advice about a GC...casual gaming n stuff...budget is max 3k

CPU - Intel Quad Core Q8400
MB - Intel DG35EC
Mem - 4 GB @ 800 Mhz
HDD - 500 GB
Monitor - Samsung Syncmaster 2233SW

1. What is your budget? can look to stretch to 30K
2. Current rig Specs in signature
CPU
Motherboard
RAM
Monitor
3. Which PSU/SMPS will you be using? same as now
4. Primary use? (, Hardcore gaming, , Movies/HTPC)
5. What resolution do you game on? 1920x1200
6. Interested in Crossfire/SLI? Depends on Deal
7. Open to both Nvidia/ATI? Yup
its all pretty confusing

I was reading today around 5-6 sites on three cards

  1. GTX580
  2. GTX570
  3. and ATI 6970

Some sites gave 570 edge and some gave 6970 edge. Some sites even shown 580 consuming less power and lesser on heat than 6970. Giving it lot of green/efficiency advantage even with its higher performance.

In end also end up thinking why to get a 580? if the 5970 is sort of cheaper and is still better card compared on many levels than a 580. DX 11 is still on both. and DX12 is not on horizon either so what is there to loose.

or even rather if I have 30K to spend (approx. cost for a 580) i feel i rather buy 2 cards 6870s. CF them. Better is i can stagger my purchase buy one today one may be after some time.

Sapphire HD4650 ~ 3k. The HD4670 sells for about 3.6k-3.8k and is worth the little extra u spend on the GPU. If possible go for the HD4670 :)

Dont wanna buy a card such that it will be bottlenecked by my current Rig .

Also will be OK if it cant handle Crysis @ 1680 * 1050 :)

For the PSU that u have the max i would suggest is the Sapphire HD5770 ~ 7.8k. Pretty decent for that resolution. Also have you unlocked the X2 to Quad?

HIS Radeon HD 6950 2 GB Review - Page 29/33 | techPowerUp
ASUS Radeon HD 6950 CrossFire Review - Page 21/23 | techPowerUp

Powercolor HD6950 costs 17.5k shipped from MH. Get one now and add one later when price dips :) It beats the crap out of the HD5970 and GTX580.

[GO] PowerColor Radeon 6900 Series DX11 Graphics Card Christmas Special (Ready Stock)

true ... why even 6900 series not much difference between 6870 and 6950 and two of either ones take on nicely any single card GPU

You can get a HD5770 as DarkAngel suggested..
if you want something with more power..
get a Corsair VX450 and a HD 6850..
the combo will be around 15k.

You seem to have a PII X2 550..try unlocking it..
loads of guides available .. :)

@DarkAngel & @ragzdiablo : Thanks for the replies guys..I think i'll give the HD4670 a shot...:)

I have an age-old pc which is doing great job.. except its inability to play some of the HD movies.. :( Not in a mood of system upgrade for a year, hence looking for a gfx card which can solve my purpose..

1. What is your budget? Open
2. Current rig Specs AMD 3200+ (939) / MSI RS480M-IL / Transcend 512 X 4 DDR1 400 / Samsung Syncmaster 17"
3. Which PSU/SMPS will you be using? VIP (or do i need to upgrade it?)
4. Primary use? Casual gaming, HD Movies
Although your motherboard does support a PCIx16 slot..
it s highly recommended you upgrade your system..

A good DDRIII based system can be built within 20k..
spending in bits always comes to be a costlier affair..

if upgrading right now is a big no from your side..
get a Nvidia 8400gs..will cost under 2k..

Planning to get a GPU card for moderate gaming
budget 8 to 11K
What would be a better option? Would be getting it now.
Was thinking between
5770, 460, 6850
but in two minds if I should invest now or should stick to onboard ATi graphics or get 5670 for now and upgrade in April/May??
Guys planning to go with 5670 or GTS450 due to budget constraint. So is it worth paying 2K more for GTS 450 ??
Which one has better video acceleration and for more formats?

PLEASE USE THIS TEMPLATE FOR ASKING YOUR QUERY
